Am I crazy or is this really in the key of D-flat major? This is an E-flat dorian sounding backing track and I find that E-flat dorian sounds best to play over this with. Dorian is a major-feeling scale so it makes sense you might want to call this E-flat major, but I am pretty sure this is D-flat major? Or am I misunderstanding something? I am curious. The notes I want to play in this are all in D-flat major. Sorry lol just trying to learn

Thank you for your comment. You are on to something very important. First of all, the key of this song is Eb major. If you play a 3-chord blues in the key of A Major, for example, the tonic part of the blues is also a seventh chord. In this case, the scales that can be used are A-major pentatonic, A-minor pentatonic, A-mixolydian, and so on. The same concept can be used in this case.

What scale am i supposed to solo with
@MusicJamTracksАй бұрын
It's very difficult to play ad-libs on this song. I think it is mentioned in the video, but try playing the first two bars in A minor pentatonic, and the second two bars in Ab Lydian or Bb Mixolydian.

I can't hear a D in the Cm7(9) Chord so a b9 sounds more natural after the Dbmaj7. Great tracks you have!
