9:09 I hate to say this, and I realize that this video is old news now, but when watching this video at 0.5 Playback speed you can clearly see that this was an unfair test. The impact made much more direct contact with the steel wheel, but barely touched the aluminum wheel. I would throw out this test and ignore the results until I see a direct comparison. Thanks.

Nut Indicators are just tell-tales that component(Nut) has not rotated., NOT that the entire joint is tight. So like you guys are aliking the torque to temp of the oven.... it just tells you the temp....They don't say the joint is at correct tension. Indicators are helpful AFTER the torque recheck!!!! in the daily pre-trip inspections.... they are useful.

On the same size disc wheel with same bolt hole circle can you chamfer holes and convert a hub piloted to a stud piloted wheel??

I will never ask my company to buy them ever again. Brand new truck deep wash every week. The wheels just gets worse as the weeks go on. Even auto smart guy couldn’t get them clean using RED 7. lessons learned unless you have a show pony truck that dose no work I would not bother

Anyone buying these, they will "Guaranteed" fall off. I've lost many, especially in hot summer weather, $120 each. My solution was to run a bead of silicone around the inside part that contacts the lug nuts. I've never lost another since. They still can be removed with a minimal increase in effort from the flawed Alcoa retaining system.

I have been in the Commercial tire industry for over 25 years now. I started out working in the wheel refurbishing Department and worked my way up working a multitude of different positions through both the Operations/Service and Sales side of the industry, including Facility Management and Sales Management over 8 Outside Territory Salesman. I can tell you without a doubt that the torque issues on, specifically, the Hub Pilot wheel assemblies, causes the most sleepless nights for anyone in this field. It is critical to make sure that you use undamaged Flanged Nuts, Oil the nut between the flange and the nut surfaces, put 2 drops of oil on the stud, gauge the threads on the stud with a thread tool to ensure they haven't been stretched beyond the snap back point, make sure the studs are regularly replaced in less than 1 million miles, use the impact gun to run the nut up to the wheel surface (But NOT to torque), torque the nut (In a star pattern, beginning with the nut at the 12 O'clock position, then the 6, followed by opposite sides from left to right) with a torque wrench to 475lbs and then make sure to follow up with a retorque (Using a torque wrench) after 100 miles of operation, post wheel assembly installation. Failure to follow any of these steps every single time you install a wheel assembly to a hub, using Manufacturer specifications, can and will lead to catastrophic consequences at one point in time or another.

Are the retention nuts supposed to be supplied with the bright finish one piece covers for drive axles? We ordered these for some new stock trucks and none of the bright finish covers have the retention nuts supplied with them. We received a black one piece cover by mistake from OEM and it did have the retention nuts. I have a customer that has had issues with the bright finish covers falling off during operation. Could this be his issue?
