Hmm no sorry, that's not a model nor texture, it's an a.i. generated video. Honestly I am happy they disqualify a.i. since corridor themselves have used a.i. which actually made me stop watching their channel. It's a shame to see creative people use a.i. especially when a.i. uses work that is stolen as a database/ Of course it sucks your actual animated part of the video is now disqualified, but I think it's a good lesson to not mix actual work with generated stuff from a.i. Don't get me wrong, a.i. can be great for some stuff, but when it comes to generating "creative" stuff, it's a no go. I would rather live in a world where a.i. does the crappy lame work, and the people do the actual creative jobs like animation. Not the opposite

The main problem with generative AI is that it's based on stolen art. It baffles me that people like you can't see the potential problems with this. Also trust me we could tell that the script was written by AI, it's soulless, like everything else made by AI.
@adacskipper26 күн бұрын
Here's my issue with AI: as it currently stands, and the direction it's developing, AI is a way for wealth to access skill without allowing skill to access wealth. I'm not talking about your average joe making memes on the internet here; I'm talking about major companies investing billions of dollars into AI in order to replace artists at every level. AI is currently unregulated and trained using stolen data, and until both of those things change AI will continue to be a deeply problematic and corrupt issue. So in other words, while I agree that AI COULD be empowering, I fundamentally disagree with the premise that it is not here to replace us, because AI replacing artists is what the profit motive demands. I don't want artists to lose their jobs to a machine copying what is supposed to be uniquely theirs. I don't think anyone does, but that is what the industry is pushing for.

@LostGarcons26 күн бұрын
the biggest problem with AI is not the tech of machine learning and more so the fact that almost every single one of these new fancy models is built off of large libraries of stolen data. Therefore until we get proper restrictions in place, most "AI" in its current state is highly unethical. Not too mention over all i think Ai is better for smaller things, think automation of accent lines in spider verse films, and less in more integral parts of the piece like the background. Because clearly the background matters as it was almost immediately pointed out by the people watching it. Ai has its place in the world but generative content is probably the weakest and most pointless use case

If he had recreated the Ai image in 3D then probably fine. Its a fine line. Nice work regardless.

It's Clint's fault for not defining correctly the rules. However, you totally should've been disqualified. If you think AI is okay for rendering the WHOLE background it may as well be okay for rendering every element. This is a clear case of how AI is not only reducing your work's quality, but also devaluating the rest of your process. AI may make sense in the current fast-paced industry of abusing deadlines, but trying to produce cheap in an arts challenge and uploading a victimistic video when the judges catch you is just petty.

@ZeusCreates27 күн бұрын
@@Think666_ Anyone who draws a copyrighted character and earns money from it is in fact violating the law. The original creators can take action any time if they want but sometimes they choose not to coz it's not worth it. Non-commercial usage falls under fair use most of the time but even that can be challenged by some (Example-Disney). Companies like Midjourney charge you for using it. Which means they are stealing art, training AI and then charging users for it. If it was all free then the outrage wouldn't be as large as it is now.

@@ZeusCreates I can see the emotional appeal of a supporting artists stealing art and commercialising as good, because the original creators can take action at any time. While an engineer (or a group of them) automating the process is bad, because the original creators have to take action. However this doesn’t help us understand whether in law this will be defined as "theft", as the issues is that this tech didn't exist and wasn't even imagined when these laws were written, and given the amount of groundwork Google did in Authors Guild, Inc. v. Google, Inc it's going to be challenging describing Gen AI as non-transformative, especially give the tech is continuing to evolve. Midjourney (or other companies who charge) are not the only accessible route for these technologies. Anyone can use “Flux” a local model to produce better quality images than Midjourney today on their home PC, and these open model are only going to improve exponentially and lead to further innovations. The replacement issue feels separate as it seems almost guaranteed that our lives are going to change as we adopt “thought automation”, and it’s probably going to happen faster than humans have ever experienced before.

What pwnisher meant by using ai is for things like generating PBR textures, ideas, reference, not full animated background. and for people saying "AI is just tool" then lemme tell a secret which u might not know, this was a 3d render challenge not AI render challenge. thats why when movies bring back old passed actors in live action movies they specifically say we used ai or deepfake to make them. imagine someone bringing 3d printed models on traditional scupting competition and then saying " they both are scupted".
