Don't f*** around with the source material. It's not rocket science. You wouldn't make Harry Potter a black transexual who finds a magic wand and gains superpowers. Trank took the well known story and decided to deconstruct it. Then got angry with the fans for objecting. Exactly as Doctor Who fans got angry with the writer who retconned the entire back story of the Time Lord, sorry, Timeless Child. Those fans were "sexist". "Intransigent". Ring any bells? The FF went into space, gained powers and later (much later) came across Dr. Doom. Reed was a genius scientist, Ben Grimm his friend and skilled pilot. Sue was the older sister who cared for her (biological) sibling after the death of their parents. Both their parents. A white blond Sue (comic accurate) having a black adoptive brother was a change for the sake of change. It's not as though other actors were unavailable. Point this out, and you're called a "racist", even though I explicitly stated I was fine with both Storms being black, as long as the dynamic of the older sister caring for the reckless, irresponsible teenage brother was maintained. However, the fans, those who loved and supported the FF, sometimes for decades, those who had the potential to catapult the takings at the box office into the stratosphere were ignored. The lessons of 1978 Superman and 1989 Batman disregarded. Trank and the studio execs disrespected the fans, and then threw a hissy fit when the fans returned the insult. For me, Corman produced a good, faithful film, albeit unfinished and poorly financed. Two pretty good films, imo, followed. Enjoyable and respectful, with a good cast. Fan4stic was unnecessary, unloved and a waste of time, money and talent.

This film is surely about the 'elite' cults that effectively rule the world and whose members are bonded by group sex and various perversions and worse. Surely the Epstein, Prince Andrew, Gates, Clinton et al. revelations show that. Stanley was apparently interested in secret societies and as democracy is shown to be a semblance, the influence of these groups is now becoming palpable, as well as the fact that many 'leaders' no longer actually serve their people at all. Isn't that the bigger picture, beyond the issues of a couple with love, trust and sexuality?

Tom and Nicole's scenes were fascinating- amazing that so many comment that this film was boring...😂 it is one of the most intriguing films of recent times. Yes, Nicole's character was cruel and Bill appeared to be naive. I don't think he was as clueless as he led on. He was confused and trying to figure things out. His life was focused on conventional mores which weren't as solid as he originally believed. His character had a quiet complexity, masking the simmering uncertainty he sensed.

I betcha that every company who said no to making "Stranger Things" now regrets it since it is not a global smash hit phenomenon. Netflix has been using their money wisely on it. They even customized their Netflix logo for the beginning of each episode around the time when season 4 dropped in which we see the Upside Down in the background. This is truly the most successful thing that came from Netflix. There is literally no other show that is as cinematic as Stranger Things. I mean, season 3 was when things started to get really cinematic with their special effects. And season 4 is when they decided to extend the runtime of each episode they're each like a movie. Especially with "The Piggyback". This show is pure genius with how it does its homage to 80s pop culture. Thank you, Duffer Brothers.

this movie affected me the way any great piece of art affects you. it's a feast for the eyes. i could see scenes playing out in my head from this movie for days and i could hear the creepy piano, shit i can hear it right now just thinking about it. this isn't the kind of movie you forget about quickly. it sticks with you for a while. it makes you think. it makes you feel, which i feel like it adds to the soul or at least makes it better somehow. even though sometimes the thoughts are dark and the feeling are uncomfortable or un pleasant. but that's life, it's not all skittles and rainbows. after watching this film, you realize that most of what they're feeding us these days is garbage, and is not good for the soul and makes us all a little dumber everytime we watch it.

Tom and Nicole scenes are the least interesting aspects of the film for me. I thought Nicole and her character was very unlikable and Tom is not credible as a successful practicing NY doctor,

Whoa I never heard the “you said it has necrophilia…” part that makes sense with the ritual and the girl that gets sacrificed in place of Tom. Wonder if that was actually filmed. I doubt it, most likely more implied like true detective did with the microwave scene and the ritual scene

When this was first announced, I thought it had so much potential. A shame how it turned out. Shouldn't be this hard to make a Fantastic Four movie. Stop forcing Dr. Doom into the story. Stop giving him the same origin as the Fantastic Four. That's half the work right there.

he never cared for the actors or actresses .....he looked at them as if they were fake , and they were bringing real to his idea.....making the fake real....why his movies are the best ....he went for the art not the care .....the aesthetics of grand design like the 16th chapel , make it practical unlike now where they use aesthetics like wearing a hat backwards its only for look with the lack of practicality

There is no message. (Just like there is no message in mona lisa or stairway to heaven). It tells a story, and it shows the world and weird people in it. And a ton of hidden symbols, but theres no message. Its not supposed to teach you something. Its just art.
