What is Acrylic Plaster? This is the first time I am seeing this material. Result seems to be as good as resin.
@atelier_AG5 ай бұрын
Acrylic plaster is pretty much what it sound like! It’s an acrylic powder that you mix with water and cures into a plastic-like material. Similar hardness as resin but slightly heavier, and not as brittle as plaster. It’s a little bit more prone to bubbles in your castings, but it’s great for larger pieces like this trophy!

This is such a wonderful video to see. I've been subscribed to your channel for a while because I love your designs (the squid gnomes specifically featured in a homebrew I run for some of my college friends) but I'm an educator by trade. Many of my students have been telling me how they feel like nobody outside of the university cares about Palestine, so I've been collecting examples of people outside of academia who are speaking up to show them there's still hope. I'm so happy to add your video to my list!

Arjan, you're a good person. It's clear that you have a huge compassion and care for those who are suffering and that injustice anywhere affronts you personally. However you must not sabotage yourself because others have it worse than you. Art is the lifeblood of humanity, without it we die. Even right now, amongst the violence and terror, I see videos of Palestinian kids dancing in what's left of their streets. Allow yourself to dance too. Allow yourself to be hopeful, to see the shoots of a better tomorrow amongst the shattered wreckage of today. I'm not saying it's easy. I'm saying that we can not fight suffering with suffering, nor fear with fear. We fight suffering with compassion, fear with hope. We fight with art, even when art seems frivolous. Especially when art seems frivolous! Because art is not frivolous, it is human. And ultimately what we are fighting for is humanity. That of others and ourselves. If this comes across as corny, I'm sorry. I just think you're doing a great job and I hope you will keep it up for as long as you are willing and able to do so. All the best.

Thanks for the kind words. I will never stop making art, because I agree with you that it is fundamentally human and I just enjoy it too much. I guess I wasn’t very clear, but my point was that on social media I have the feeling like it is expected that you behave a certain way, that you shouldn’t be the killjoy. For me it is very important to have these conversations, because my happiness and well-being doesn’t stop with only myself. Thanks again for your words. ❤️

Fiber optics don't really emit light from the outside, that's part of how they're designed to emit maximum light at the tip. If the tubes are the cheap plastic kind you can scuff them up with sand paper. The texture will catch and diffract light so they'll glow. The glass ones are harder, but you might be able to scuff them up a little too. In case you ever want to try this again.
@atelier_AG8 ай бұрын
Yeah I discovered that the hard way 😅 I did also think about sanding them, but I had already glued them in place. I was worried they might break off. I do have some leftover tubes, so maybe for another project!
