I believe the reason why the accolade is so gray is because Disney is pushing for it. As a company Disney has a more inclusive agenda currently than before. And one of the ways they're trying to achieve this is by not depicting anybody as the antagonist of the story. What Disney doesn't seem to realize with this show is that you can have an antagonist without that antagonist being a villain this is something that I've learned recently. I recently watched the new inside out 2 movie and in it anxiety takes the role of the antagonist. Now anxiety isn't evil she just wants what's best for Riley but what she doesn't realize is that what she's trying to do is hurting Riley but she redeems herself by the end by realizing that she can't have complete control. She's not a villain she doesn't have an evil agenda but she still goes against what the protagonist joy believes in therefore making her the antagonist Disney is struggling to have villains or an antagonists in their movies anymore. Now inside out is Pixar and Pixar is owned by Disney so maybe perhaps Disney is starting to swing in the right direction but it's too early to tell.

@@BennettHalstead I agree! Many of your most memorable and well written villains have a motivation beyond just being bad. They are doing what they believe is right. Unfortunately for whatever reason Disney is blind to this now. I don't know if it is due to the inexperience of the writers; the lack of vision from the show runners; or just their determination to follow their self destructing agenda no matter the cost.

I wish You had some understanding of what happened in the evolution of Alpha Go to Alpha Go Zero where they took humans completely out of the medium and how insanely quickly it got better than any human could imagine. It learns. It learned screenwriting the same way You learned screenwriting....except faster. Hundreds of thousands of times faster. It will not slow down. Everything, EVERY mistake or criticism fired at it, it will compile. Every criticism will teach it....and it is about to get billions of fresh ideas on shows from normal people and it will LEARN how to tailor every story to each individual consumer and every consumer will get better and more competent at tailoring shows to themselves. You miss completely what is happening. For some reason You keep thinking mass market. There will be no mass market.

Also I think some of my view point comes from my careers. For over 25 years I have had people tell me that my professions would be gone I a decade and neither of them has gone away. @@ScreenwritingScribe Mass Market. Stuff for the masses. That is going away. There will be hundreds of millions of sites talking about how to tailor prompts to make Your own show better...and there will be KZbin to put it on. Every kid who plays Roblox will become their own best screen writer by the time they are in third grade....and if they are good...their KZbin channel will generate more than Yours....and they will be able to create thousands of pieces of content in a year...and AI will get better...and we will get better...and we simply won't need screenwriters. Could u make the same argument then that there will be no more video game designers because ai will figure that out as well? I don’t see mass market going away because people are social creatures. When your friend tells u about this cool show they saw, you are going to watch it as well. That is human nature. This is why I don’t see stuff going away, we like to share in experiences, and if we like a story then we are going to want to pass it on. We are not going to want somebody to see a knock of the show but the show we saw.

Do you prefer Final Draft's UI or Script Studio? Why?
@joecrieda7555

Script Studio (so far), as I found Final Draft's attempt to add more and more into the outline phase has resulted in it looking messy and over complicated. The area to work on character building in detail is sadly missing in Final Draft and Script Studio wins hands down on this . The main area I think that might become a deal breaker is how Final Draft and Scrivener work so well together. At the moment I have not explored if Script Studio is as friendly to Scrivener as Final Draft. If it is then I'm on a winner here.

@@ScreenwritingScribe After years of learning and making mistakes I think I have now got a fairly good idea of Scrivener and its uses. The same was true with Final Draft 11, but then they got hyper and added so much clutter on Versions 12 & 13. Sadly I have noticed buggy behaviour now between Scrivener and Final Draft V 12 or 13. So perhaps I have been living a bit in the past. Hence the interest in Script Studio, which I noticed last night only imports "Text file" versions of Final Draft and refuses FDX files. Hmm. Final Draft is the Final Draft killer. It's bloated, cumbersome, and is a memory hog. But the biggest issue with Final Draft is that it is so damn expensive. Final Draft is really its own enemy. You speak truth about all the things that are wrong with it and I would add that it also crashes a lot on PC. I will say I respect its’ power but I don’t fear it. One thing A.I. will never do is to be able to tell a compelling human story because it is not human. Humans have always created tools that allow us to surpass our limitations, hammer, nuclear energy, rockets, and tractors to name a few things. This is another tool except this time we are using it to surpass our intellect, which is anxiety inducing for many because we don’t know what is going to happen and it is going to be over a shorter period than something like what the car did to horses. I talked to the creator and he told me this... If they’re using a Polish keyboard, they should be able to type directly; otherwise they’ll need to enter accented characters: www.fadeinpro.com/kb/content/3/43/en/how-to-type-accents.html It’s also important to be using a font that supports Polish characters: www.fadeinpro.com/kb/content/3/72/en/what-font-should-i-use.html?highlight=fonts

@@ScreenwritingScribe Thank you for the hint, I wanted to write with Courier font, because it has Polish characters, unfortunately I do not know why , but it does not write with them...I used Courier Prime, I hope it will also be an acceptable font when writing the script?

Are there no format shortcuts like the ones used in final draft, for example: tab, enter, tab-tab etc? It's so much faster than mouse, point, scroll, click, type, mouse, point, scroll, click, type. Even Trelby has it.

Yup it does have short cuts. When I recorded the video I was happier using the mouse. Nowadays I use the short cuts

@@ScreenwritingScribe thanks for the prompt reply. Yes I found out that after using the point and click system, the shortcuts kicked in and I was able to use the tab-enter etc shortcuts

superbly scripted! thanks for putting it clearly and also for suggesting positive future developments. meantime: are folks at FD listening after this and other comments on FD 13 Mega-Underwhelming Pseudo-Upgrade?

Thank u, I always think it is important to not just criticize but also brainstorm how to make things better. Unfortunately I don’t think final draft really cares. I have reached out several times to them and all I ever get is silence. Thank for your feedback!

Thanks for the valuable update. I for one am still using FD 9 and find it totally suitable for my writing needs. The problem, in my view, of the wanna-be professional screenwriter is that you can spend thousands of $$ on books, software, courses, contests, classes etc. and never even get a positive feedback from anyone. Screenwriting aids are a huge business and at the end of the day 99.9% of amateur writers end up with only 120 pages of a good story, at best. I see no use in upgrading just to have new fancy writing 'tools' that you really do not need or will make you a better writer. You will end up populating more and more useless tools which will, in my view, only take away your actual writing time. The most useful feature I find in FD is the voice feature, because hearing the dialogue being spoken is different then hearing it in your head. I found FD 9 has everything I need and maybe my lack of success is due to my poor writing skills, but no software in the world will alter that. Either you have it or you don't. 50,000 screenplays are written every year, and how many get produced?? Maybe what, 40? You could write Casablanca II and still get nowhere unless you have an inside track to an agent or studio exec. Good luck in your writing endeavor, but remember $99 will get you into 6 good movies.... better spent!

I just bought Fade in and to enhance it also purchased Aeon Timeline, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for me after looking for and trying lots of different softwares. I can easily visualize and organize the chronology of events in my projects, whether it's plotting the storyline of a novel, mapping out historical events for research purposes, or even planning the stages of a complex project.
