Instead of dropping into McGill trail, I recommend keep climbing up. You end up at the BSA camp. More steeps like Mt Abel, quite a bit of flow to some good loose exposure.

I used to live near skypark! Heres a few other things to check out for anyone else taking their family/spouse. Running Springs has a farmers market every Saturday through the summer. Its across from the Running Springs Post Office and there's a playground next to it as well. Also in Running Springs is the Keller Peak fire look out. Which has amazing views, sometimes you can see the ocean! you can hike to it or drive to it. Neos Pizza in Running Springs has a peanut butter pizza which is kinda wild if you are looking for a silly food adventure. There is a hot springs you can hike to called Deep Creek, google how to get there from Running Springs. (this one is for adults since clothing is optional) Heaps Peak Arboretum is a nice chill place to take a walk and its right off the highway so its easy to find. Blue Jay has a movie theater (a big deal in small towns like these lol!)

It was Gary, Steve. Dana, and others later who started the Mtb trails. We cleaned, and a lot of maintenances. Gary has done a lot cutting of trails, and I was making jumps from experience from the 1970. I made the moderate so that every one can use the jumps. My existing jump have gotten bigger, which make me happy, and I missed a lot, because there are new trails and jumps if I'm capable to do so at my age. I've been getting my strength back of a death illness since 2019, and I will be back.
