Some poor chap who put it on display! Sounds like one of my college roommates! Hip hooray indeed Colin! Thanks for your witty truth. Your songs were the best on the USA Charts.. From Nigel on up! And personally speaking, spoke to my heart more than Andy’s. No knock on Andy, love him too. But when I think how much greater of a band XTC would have been with yearly tours/gigs. Englands very own Steely Dan is what you guys got; minus the $$$. You deserved so much more.

Still bummed we didn’t get a remastered version of this with the 2011 Deluxe. Was totally neat getting to hear the unreleased version that did get included with it’s patented SD guitar wall of Big Muff sound but I’ve always preferred and liked this original B-Side far better. The low-fi vibe held an otherwise subpar song together and makes it work for me. That musky audio fidelity reminds me of those live Velvet Underground bootlegs. Thanks for posting❤

can't find this album on Spotify. Anyone that knows why? This song is absolutely one of XTC:s best
@fhusmogg11 ай бұрын
My best guess is that the band doesn’t wanna work much with streaming. Andy Partridge, who wrote this song, has expressed his disillusionment with the streaming industry in the past. XTC’s last two albums, both Apple Venus volumes, are the only two albums of theirs that they actually own; thanks to the decades of contract disputes with their old label, Virgin, they own nothing they made from 1992 back and they never will. I suspect that the absence of Apple Venus and Wasp Star from streaming are a small act of conscientious objection on behalf of the band and the only music they’ve ever released that they own. It’s a shame because both of these albums are fantastic, but hey, I’d love to be wrong, and you can never really say never.

This song has only gotten more relevant over time. Not just by gun ownership, but by power trips from online gatekeepers. The little man now runs everything, with guns and log in permissions in their hand.

That's definitely Steve on the groovebox. I realize you posted this before Farewell Horizontal, but after listening to it, it totally fits. Especially when he takes a melodic phrase and expresses it with different settings on the GB.
