Gainesville is overpriced to start. Gas cost is higher than Pennsylvania. The pay rate is lower than normal. Rent is overpriced for nothing special. Nightlife is not all that great. They do have a few spots that will work. Make sure you have a vehicle because without it you will be stuck in Gainesville. No bright line or anything. They have a bus system but that's not the greatest. I moved back here in February and I can't wait to escape this place.

If you're incredibly boring, are still obsessed with the gators for some reason, and enjoy high utility bills, swamp scenery, hot weather, and terrible traffic, then this place is for you. If you're in college, you'll love it. I am counting the days until I move.

The fact is Gainesville is horrible. It's not a community in any sense of the word. *High crime, lack of police response enabling criminals. *Healthcare providers are of extremely poor quality. *The City commission demonstrates a huge lack of concern for the overall health, welfare and safety of the community. Tangible evidence doesn't lie, people do. *GRU is an absolute disaster and is a huge financial burden to the community due to horrifically poor administration. Tangible evidence doesn't lie, people do. I would never recommend anyone to move here and I look forward to moving away!

I heard that Gainesville defunded it’s police and as result violent crime is growing ? And that the electrical bill is totally high thanks to woke policies of the local politicians ??? Can you please elaborate on these ? …. Thank for the video. Well done. I enjoyed it.
@TrishNystrom
@TrishNystrom Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! As in any city, there are areas that are more unsafe to go to. We love and respect our police force here and they continue to serve. As for the electric company…yes, their rates are very high. Older homes or un insulated properties do have high bills. Newer builds that are more “energy efficient “ seem to have less problem with their bills. Outside the city, other service providers are available like Clay Electric, Florida Power or Duke Energy.😉

@@TrishNystrom electricity is high because the city has a woke leadership that decided to charge Extra to some residents in order to pay the electrical bill of other residents. Resulting some paying for others. No thanks. I realize that Woke place isn’t for me. A real shame. Good vídeo btw.

Gainesville was alot better in the early 2000s, but I hear Celebration Point in Gainesville is thriving. The Oaks Mall had lots of diverse businesses. I use to love the theatres, especially Gator Cinemas because they kept an 80s and 90s feel but closed in late 2000s. It was one of the last cities to lose its CircuitCity and MediaPlay. Between those 2 stores you could find everything electronics you would ever need within 2 miles of each one another. Had the last Kmart in North Florida till the 2018 bankruptcy. I live on the Suwannee River west of Gainesville, so after all those businesses closed I lost interest in Gainesville.

Gainesville is about 150,000 people strong- a bit more when UF is in session. Rentals are, like everywhere in the country now, quite expensive. A one bed/one bath apt will run about $800-$1200- unless you rent a student suite (bed and bath) in an apt with three other people.

When moving to Florida from another state, do banks in Florida understand the proceeds from selling home in other state go toward down payment on new home in Florida? Some states want you to pay 2 mortgages. Can you give me some info?
@TrishNystrom
@TrishNystrom 3 жыл бұрын
Well, I’m not a lender but do I understand your question to be- if you sell in one state, you’ll use that money for your down payment on the next? That works just fine. Or are you asking- if your current home is listed and you purchase the new home on Contingency- different story. Until that home sells, it’s almost like it isn’t a part of the transaction. You would be paying two mortgages until the first house sells. That’s going to be everywhere.
