Yes, this population in this river was the only to survive polution. Today the river water are treated entering the stream and poulation is good. There are places where breeding is supported during the spring time.

כשעה וחצי הלוך ושוב. פרטים באתר הרשות מתאימים למה שאני מכיר "המסלול הינו מסלול קווי, כלומר הלוך וחזור. כ1.5 ק"מ לכל כיוון. בסך-הכל כשעה וחצי. המסלול אינו מונגש לעגלות, אך מאוד מתאים למשפחות, כיוון שברובו הוא מישורי ואינו ארוך במיוחד." יש להגיע מוקדם עי תחילת המסלול נסגרת אפיו קודם. קראו באתר בעצמכם www.parks.org.il/trip/gamla-3/

I cannot rercall exactly. It could be ~2H or less to get to the open part. I did it on an organized tour (you see the small group members) because they say you should not do it without a tour. It was a full day tour including lunch and departed from beijin. I found a web that can also answer "wildgreatwall.com/how-difficult-is-it-to-hike-from-jiankou-to-mutianyu/" I see in their map that they skip an up-down steep part in the wall

Old name is "eltsubeibe" . One potebtial meaning is jumping or leap into hunt and this may be connected to biblical Nimrod. I agree it is not very strong.
