1992 version that I had in 1992 is vastly superior. It’s like they released this version without finishing it. Where are the details and lack of paint on the underside of the saucer? Where is the phaser array? Rear of the star drive doesn’t have phasers painted or torpedo launcher. Why so many screw holes that the original didn’t need. Why does this one ship in plastic where the original came in cardboard? All worse than the original.

The size of this ship proves that Hasbro doesn't need to resort to crowd-funding to make large vehicles. Then again, that was a quarter century ago, and circumstances may have changed a fair bit since then.
@ode2toy619Ай бұрын
Another more recent example is the Justice League remote control Batmobile with smoke, lights and sound. That was circa 2017 so it can be done - Hasbro would argue it depends on the likelihood of sales as they need to guarantee a minimum threshold of sales etc but I think their on save grounds with Star Wars vehicles (afterall the Haslab Star Wars ships always meet backing target).
@drewlovelyhell4892Ай бұрын
@@ode2toy619 I guess it's all about risk, not size. They can make a big toy for a fair price, but they need to sell enough of them to turn a profit. I've seen great toys like a large scale Lukes Landspeeder (from maybe 8-10 years ago) which warmed shelves and was put on discount. It was a fine product, but just didn't reach it's audience.

I bought the original Hot Toys '89 Batman when it came out and still prefer that over this one. I think the likeness with the mouth pieces is just far better than what they did here. And the body armor on the first release was more faithful to the look. This one looks overly texturized while actually having softer features from the first one. Its like they made a second generation mold and then applied more texture. The base on mine also lights up which I agree with you is an utter rip off to have that removed here. Not really understanding the need to cut corners there. Great video though and I'm happy you're pleased with your purchase. At the end of the day, that's where it matters. Great video!
@ode2toy619Ай бұрын
Cheers! Yeah, I don't see much added value on the standard issue re-release in all honesty. The deluxe has the gargoyle display which is very nice, but didn't warrant the extra cash in my opinion. But ultimately I can't complain, it's a second chance opportunity for people like me who missed out first time around and I'm happy just to have him at last.

6 inch action figures would have been better, could have used any other superheros toy body and they had already done Kevin Sorbos face in a Hercules 6 in figure , Tyr could have been made from a Luke Cage figure just needs a facial remake or a Blade figure,, Beka could have been made from any female action figure body just would need a facial remake, the Magoge could have been built on a gorilla body with a facial remake. They would have been better looking collectables and would have sold better most kids today dont play with 12 inch figures the 6 inch figures sell more.
@ode2toy619Ай бұрын
I think this line was aimed more at the adult collector, but I agree a 6" line would have been fun and would have appealed more to a child audience. That said I don't think Andromeda would ever have been able to compete with other shows of the time (e.g. Star Trek) that were more popular so I suspect any line would have been short lived.
@puffinman1138Ай бұрын
Cool video man. I've been a big fan of the original Kenner line and love all the NECA releases and homages and have many of them. The Apone figure has those flexible grenade extenders to simulate the original toys's rubber grenade flinging action and Ripley & Vasquez got Kenner inspired repaints, as well. Don't forget they did a Drake homage too. Lastly, I saw someone take that Carter Burke figure and use that generic body with the James Cameron head sculpt to make a "Movie Director Cameron". Add in the directors viewfinder accessory and film clipboard and looks pretty convincing.

This looks fantastic, not sure why I slept on this set all these years. Finally snagged some cheap on eBay and will serve my various toy collections well. The Ringwraith will end up in my dark fantasy set like an evil spirit with my Castlevania figs. The horse looks so epic and will be a new steed for my old western Ghost Rider. Some customizers have added flame effects to the feet and eyes but he looks great as is too. 👍

Excellent review! I think this is one of the longest reviews you've done. This is a really interesting figure, throughout the video I found my self judging it based on what price range I think it's worth because of the cheaper materials, paint work and so on. I'm really curious, what's the regular retail price? Also quick tip, if you need a black light on the fly. Find a picture of blue on your phone, zoom in so it covers the entire screen and turn your brightness to max. That should give you an approximate black light effect. Great video as always dude 👍🏻

Cheers buddy, thanks for the tip! The retail price seems to however around the £180 mark in the UK, although I've seen it as high as £215 (no doubt as a consequence of import fees and taxes). Personally though, I would say it's more appropriate around the £150 mark.
