Such a wonderful performance on all levels. Scarlatti must have been having some of the best days of his life when he composed this joyous masterpiece.

Harpsichord were in use during los siglos 17. 18. Ahora se usa el pianoforte que el mismo Escarlati hubiera ciertamente preferido.

Playford drew his music from all over and I imagine this was originally Spanish at a time when the Spanish court was a fashion setter. The hurdy gurdy fits it so well. Thanks for a great video.

this piece is literally meant to be played “as fast as possible” hence the presto, quanto sia possibile above the score.

As fast as possible - the instructions of the composer. Originally it would have been played on a harpsichord where the action is lighter and therefore the playing would have been even faster. The joy would be lost if played slower. The music is not buried, you have to keep up with it.
