Holy shit. I found the holy Grail. I'm following a ton of boxing accounts on here, but I just went through your home feed and I must say I love the structured approach you're taking in teaching. Keep this up man!!! Gonna watch em all and see if I can fix whatever flaws I currently have. I can't wait for the shadowboxing master class.

@FirstTeam-s3s Every fighter has an end to thier career, and it's funny how that's the 1 opponent you pick to try and nullify the technique of one of the greats in all of boxing. Roy Jones in his prime lb/lb was an unstoppable HOOKING Master, No matter what punch was thrown his way.

never was able to use these things until i started learning how to move with them. (orthodox) i take a tiny step back with front leg when i slip to the right and step the same amount back with my back leg when sliping to the left. i also never slip twice in a row only roll under punches after i slipped once

They don't make coaches like this no more. Joe Rogan said anybody can look good on pads because the coaches meet them halfway. Real old school coaches do none of that and make you hit the pad yourself with your own power. This is a great example of that.

Lol, chatting poo, miadana did ok with the overhand right against broner and mayweather, overhand right is very useful and has its place in boxing, dont listen to any coach who tries to remove something from your game or completely denounces a well used technique that has stood the test of time, they're either lying or dont understand how to properly implement the technique so they write it off.

thats not true i have a punch where you duck to the left and step left but leave your left hand where you were they should instinkly fallow your head with there eyes at that time you use your right hook thats all rdy full or half cocked he using only streight looping and hooks you have to be in a side step for them to be effective

Not sure what overhands he’s talking about but mannnn when that overhand right hand is thrown from a squatted position while weaving it’ll break your face🤷🏾 now thrown how he demonstrated of course the straight punch beats it every time. I mean he’s standing upright no movement no set up🤷🏾 and I won’t even comment on a right hook not being a punch. 😏 that’s what’ll break your jaw
@boxingmadesimple
@boxingmadesimple Ай бұрын
The explanation in the video is in the context of good boxing technique. To give a better explanation, both the overhand right and right hook are wide, looping punches that go around the opponent's guard, which leaves you open to counters. A skilled boxer with good technique can easily step inside and counter these punches because they take too long to reach the target compared to a straight punch. Also, straight punches (like the jab or straight right) are far more effective because they go directly between the opponent’s hands, where they’re less likely to see it coming. That’s why you’ll hear pros say knockout punches are all about precision and timing. Looping punches like the overhand right or right hook don't have the same level of precision and leave you more vulnerable. The key to landing powerful strikes is not just the punch but also footwork and positioning. Moving your front foot to the inside and setting up your punches is a far better way to land a clean knockout shot without getting hit in return. So, the bottom line is that the overhand right and right hook can be risky punches that expose you, especially against an opponent with good defense. We aren’t saying these punches aren’t use during a fight, because they are, but they’re considered signs of poor technique because they’re easier to counter, whereas straight punches, combined with smart movement, are much more effective.

Here’s a deeper breakdown to make this lesson clear: 1. Body Mechanics and Balance: A right hand punch (straight or cross) requires strong rotation from the hips and shoulders. If you lunge forward in a straight line without engaging your lower body and core, you're more likely to lose balance because your weight is off-center, and recovery time for the next punch increases. 2. Through and Around Motion: Teaching the punch with a through and around motion allows the body to rotate naturally, keeping the weight centered and grounded in the legs. This doesn’t mean throwing a looping punch, but rather following through with the rotation of the body. The feet should remain firmly planted or pivot with the punch. This keeps you "on balance" and able to quickly return to a guard position or follow up with additional punches. 3. Preparedness for Counters or Follow-Ups: By maintaining balance through this motion, you are more prepared for whatever comes next-whether that’s a defensive move, another punch, or reacting to the opponent's counter. If you lunge, you’re more vulnerable to counters, and it takes longer to reset for the next strike. 4. Energy Efficiency: When you swing through and around, the punch allows for smoother energy transfer from the ground up. This minimizes wasted energy compared to lunging, where momentum is often lost when you miss the punch. Always remember, boxing is about control and positioning-keeping that right hand smooth, balanced, and always ready to reset is the goal.
