Satsuki is the 5th month of the lunar year NOT sixth month

Just received a Satsuki Azalea. Was told it is 5 to 7 years old. It is very small and dense. Should I thin it out now. Also do I cut branches now to shape it. Thank you for your video.

Just take it out of the pot and then plant it upside down with the leaves in the dirt that will help the growth of the roots above

Finally someone talking about Yakuza and satsuki! That's rare info. The few people outside Japan that know about this, don't speak about it, haha. One of my few knowledge gaps on satsuki.

This has to be the best Bonsai tutorial that I have watched, a laugh a minute and so informative, and what a character you are Marco. Thank you for making my day. Kind regards from London.

Would be nice to have an explanation of how your cutting and shaping the branches. A bit too much general chat. A closer camera angle would also be good.

Nice video. I have a very similar tree in my garden. I have just done 2 air layers which have roots. I will use them for Bonsai eventually.

When you own bonsai and actually care about them you cannot go on vacation unless you have someone to water your bonsai. I would never leave for even two days and leave the survival of my bonsai dependant upon a sprinkler system. You have to put watering heads in every single pot/container. Look at Paul Pikels bonsai watering system on KZbin. His system is the ONLY way to do it but myself I would still never use a watering system. I however have trees that all range 10-150 years old.

jake4bonsai This is why I took the time to load, drive, unload then return, load, drive and unload 36 of my Bonsai to a bonsai nursery. The trees you see here are pre-bonsai and stock that if important to me would have not been left to a sprinkler. I 100% agree with you. Over the next year most of what you see here will be sold, donated to the club or put in the ground to fatten up. Thanks for the comment!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I learned a lot and was inspired to start thinking about what to do with my pre-bonsai hinoki That said... I was getting really annoying with the school girl type of giggling and the jokes while the presenter was presenting. I feel like people should have more respect.

Nice work, as usual. You could keep the upper roots and put a tight wire under it. This way the upper roots will thicken and the taper will improve. greets Kennet
