I'm just know learning about LPR. My NP diagnosed me with GERD about a year ago but my symptoms I'm having now are different; more like LPR. Curious to know your thoughts on using an alginate? It's a common treatment in Europe, from what I hear, but not in the states. After watching your video several times, I'm thinking whole milk yogurt is my biggest trigger. I guess it's time to make some dietary changes :-(

I started feeling sudden burning pain in my esophagus after a week of taking NSAIDs forgetting they inhibit the mucosal protection. It seems my pain is more from acute injury that is struggling to heal. I never had any pain or any symptoms of GERD before a week ago. How can I treat this sudden burning pain if its from NSAID induced injury versus chronic GERD? What kinds of supplements help the most?

Some people actually have low acid reflux. A good test is before eating or drinking anything (in the morning), drink 4 oz of water mixed with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. If you have normal acidic stomach, you should burp within 3 minutes.

I am finding your information of great value. I am suffering from chronic acid reflux. Currently taking PPI and having some very undesirable side effects like hair loss, unfortunately. Interesting to observe that this condition showed up four months after I went full into a meat diet - 100% meat. I keep blaming the meat diet for my condition, but I am not sure what really causes the problem. Finding difficult to re-introduce meat, mainly eating sweet potatoes and some occasional salmon. Even drinking water can trigger acid reflux. I would appreciate some insights on this. Thank you for your work.

So removing fermentable carbohydrates basically means... you can't go wrong with keto, right?
@DrNormGutHealth11 сағат бұрын
Yes and no. Keto does limit dietary carbs. But fiber (many types) and most sugar alcohols except erythritol are fermentable, but not counted on a keto diet.

GAMEPLAN: (if you have low stomach acid) try HCL betaine with supplements such as B12 and Magnesium citrate. you will instantly get 90% fine, then you will have to keep nourishing the good bacteria by eating a bowl of veg(fiber), continue the HCL and avoid carbs as much as you can to reduce the bad bacteria. the HCL will also kill the bad bacteria that cant survive the acid just like stomach acid. if you continue HCL betaine you will start feeling improvements from 90 to 91% then 92% and all the way up to 100%. once you are fully fixed. stop all medications. it can take 1 month to a year, take HCL with protein meals not empty stomach. dont drink water for 90 minutes after you ate HCL. then after 90 minutes you can drink lots of water as needed. better if you take digestive enzymes pill with meals and also vinegar for better digestion, if the throat is not inflamed due to acid. if the thorat is inflamed, then first reduce the inflamation for 1 week by not eating acidic foods or refluxing foods such as high carbs food or common trigger foods

Wouldn't it make sense to produce a profile of the individual's micro biom composition and develop a strategy that works for that composition of the individual? Dividing people within certain categories is an ok approach but I think because each and every person can be so different and the composition of the micro biom can vary so widely, categories just don't make sense to me. Heck someone could have a little of all those categories, I feel it goes a little deeper than how we think of it at the current time.

Hello, is the fast tract diet you mentioned similar to low fodmap?
@DrNormGutHealth2 ай бұрын
Both diets restrict certain types of "fermentable carbs". But there are significant differences. The FTD is a system based on limiting fermentable carbs, introducing pro-digestion practices, and addressing underlying causes. FTD is quantitative using the FP calculation which utilizes the glycemic index and nutritional facts for any food. One other big difference is that FTD limits the same food types as FODMAP, but also limits resistant starch and fiber.

The world need holistic digestive health centers, that specialize in all aspects of food intake. Digestive health is everything for humans. Without it nothing else will work properly. Digestive neurology is also very important. For example what will neck injuries and injuries to the nerve lines do with all the gastro functions of the body. What some might think is a weak esophagal sphyncter or a hiatial hernia, could also be the nerve controle of the sphyncter, causing it not to close properly.

Thank you for sharing this information, I've had gerd for years, but now I've been diagnosed with LPR as well. I've had a chronic cough since I was 18 with lots of throat clearing and the globas is feeling in my throat and hoarseness. I went to all kinds of specialists and they all kept sending me to a different one, finally my ENT did a scope in my nose today and gave me a diagnosis. Is your app still on the Play Store I do not see it? I would definitely like to learn how to follow a low acid diet to try and minimize these effects as the cough is becoming debilitating

SIBO can come back even on ketovore, at least because of dairy. No dairy for me now, going strict carnivore, and I was given an advice to try prokinetic herbs, like ginger or artichoke. I have just ordered ginger caps. We'll see.
@user-js4sb4qq2h23 күн бұрын
Fresh organic ginger root tea is wonderful, it's strong and spicy, which I think burns up the excess bac or fung in the gut. I use with a touch of honey and lemon, but you could use straight ginger tea. also fresh artichoke leaf shredded as tea. so no dry pills that your digestive track would need to hydrate, but more natural nourishing teas. There's a good youtube video on this called how I cured my SIBO, by a guy named C C. I also eat high fiber, low sugar fruits, vegetables, eggs, herbs, meat, chicken, broth, roasted veggies. Check Michael Ruscio's channel and list.
@orchidmuse23 күн бұрын
@ Thank you for an advice. I used to drink the natural ginger tea, but then I got allergic to ginger. I have already tried artichoke, it works if I take it with every meal and if I avoid carbs. I will look into the channels you offered, thanks. 🙏

you say reduce fermentable foods but what about foods that are already fermented like sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, Greek yogurt, etc.?
@DrNormGutHealthАй бұрын
Yes, fermented foods are already depleted for much of the carb content via fermentation in the vessel, so lower in carbs overall provided they don't contain a lot of added sugar.

I've felt sick going on 12 weeks now. I've seen my regular doctor twice, urgent care doctor, two visits to the ear. Been on three antibiotics and two steroids. They kept telling me its chronic sinusitis and a ct scan showed i had mucosal cyst. I finally get into ent and they tell me they think its LPR. But my symptoms have mostly been congestion, clogged and ringing in left ear, vertigo and exhaustion. Im at a loss of where to go from here.

Little confused Is it SIBO that causes GERD or GERD causes SIBO
@DrNormGutHealth11 сағат бұрын
The first. My theory goes like this; SIBO or other forms of dysbiosis occur (with many underlying or contributing causes) where carbohydrate malabsorption promotes fermentation leading to excess intestinal gas that works its way into the stomach increasing intragastric pressure that pushes the LES open. This idea challenges the dogma that GERD is caused by a dysfunctional sphincter.
