NL Once had 70-80% food sustainability. Yet with the introduction of Capital food systems, the major one like Sobeys make over $30B from 1400 stores and no in NL we only have 2-10% food sustainability. NLDERS are told that we are self-sufficient in Chicken, Eggs and Milk. Yet much of the feed to support this has to be imported. Gov of NL has 64,000 hectares for Agricuslure development, yet many lack the funds to start a farm. Our population is not big enough to get major development here. So I'm suggesting that we take $100M and get 1,000 farmers and start a training program using the methods and principles of Curtis Stone the Urban Farmer. theurbanfarmer.co/ Start with the Microgreens course microgreenswebclass.com/tuf and start generating an income of $1.5K/week and then get 10 acres of land and $100K to build a Cottage-style Farm, that will generate $100K+/acre. We can have a farm in or near each community so that we can provide fresh, local healthy food to communities. If the Gov on NL can give away $100M to the oil industry and we get no return. Surely we can give $100M to 1,000 citizens and make NL 80-100% food sustainable. Even $10M/ year for 10 years. It's Not Rocket Science, and you don't need a Gov Leader to make it happen. People just need to be educated and wakeup to the reality and possibility that we can have on NL.

PS the Lib Gov has 1 year to double the food production in NL, from 10% to 20%. Not going to happen as with most of Gov programs and promises. www.gov.nl.ca/thewayforward/action/increase-newfoundland-and-labradors-food-self-sufficiency-to-at-least-20-per-cent-by-2022/
