So it never occurred to you that maybe they couldn’t stop the fire because they didn’t have adequate funding to keep the department up?? Don’t just jump to conclusions and say they are the worst. Back then you were lucky to even have a fire department, and they did their best with what resources and materials they had to work with. Better funding and that never would have happened.

Noticeable flaws I observed: 1. It is apparent that underaged teens are working a fire. 2. Their equipment is dated, most likely from the 60s, along with wearing what looks to be hard hats and no breathing apparatus. 3. It appears one of them was using a garden hose to fight a fire. 4. Management and operation was highly unorganized. 5. Apparatus housing and quarters are outrageous, like come on in a garden shed and a barn is pretty ridiculous. I get this is a rural fire department with little to no funding, which is understandable. What is not understandable is their coordination and selfishness in a dangerous situation. Usually mutual aid is present everywhere with these types of fires, but making another department leave when you are in need of it most is unacceptable. It is safe to say that this might be the WORST fire department I have ever seen.

I saw a video where their engine was screaming. And the home owners lost everything. I took it they dont know how to work a pumper. I also read that they closed down.

UPDATE! The Grants Pass Rural Fire Department has been closed down and a official county fire rescue has been established. Called "Rural Metro Fire - Josephine County". These guys have SCBA's, have modern equipment and are followed by modern Deputies and Troopers!

I know a volunteer fire department that has trucks from the 1980s and 90s and so far they’re two newest trucks are from 2000 and 2004, but the majority of them are from the 1980s or 90s, and do you wanna know something they run and drive and do everything else they’re supposed to do perfectly fine because they take care of their stuff, age doesn’t matter it’s about taking care of your things and getting your crap together. Also, they don’t have little baby garden hoses, They have real fire hoses that are in good shape and work properly. I wouldn’t have such a problem with this fire department if they were nonprofit and really trying to do everything that they could, but the fact that the family owned business is a for-profit and the fact that they are trying to get more contracts despite them being the worst one in the county is why I have such a problem with them. I mean, there is literally a video of them showing up to a housefire and then running out of water halfway through and then rural/metro showed up and started spraying, but they were told to leave because they didn’t have the contract so they were forced to pack up and leave in the middle of the house being fully engulfed in flames and the idiots that had no water in their tank who didn’t know what they were doing, where left with a house fire fully engulfed in flames. They need to be disbanded start a petition, please somebody.
