How do you know it's dead? and how do you replace it so easily what is the thing that was watery?

hi mate, that component was diagnosed defective based on experience with the failure mode (several fets shorting out) I'm using high heat, high flow to get it quickly off. The gel that turns liquid under hear is called flux; it helps preparing the soldering surfaces by removing oxidation Most solder pastes and wires have it incorporated into it already, but it dries out while reflowing so reapplying it freshens it back up :)

@@fractalengineering I used to reflow dead laptop motherboards, I would literally use an electric skillet, get it up to about 180C, then flux the chip in question, and heat with 210 for about 30 seconds. Worked pretty well, did dozens of boards this way never had any come back!

I got bad news today. The motors I was given are not 1303 8k. They are 1106 6k. Looks like they are going to go on something else. Got any battery/prop ideas for that size motor? I have to admit I am looking forward to using the Custom Purple Fractal/Tiny Whoop motors instead.

Where it all began! I had a different E014 Windmill first. I got this E013 next but I think they gave me too weak of a battery. It would barely hover. I'm going to use the goggles, camera, and VTX on something else though. The whole set up was so cheap! I can't really complain.

That's awesome!!! I'm hopeful to get a decent flight with my Hawkeye split Camera now. It weghs more(18.5g) because of the DVR but I'm hoping it won't be too heavy. Are the models you currently sell the "Rev-02"?
@fractalengineering
@fractalengineering 7 ай бұрын
Thanks! Just realized now you weren't referring to the hawkeye thumb cam; looking at the board size it appears meant for 30x30mm mounting? Might be a challenge fitting it in there; the Wingman is meant to whoop stack 25.5x25.5mm You might still be able to jerry rig it in there, although I wouldn't encourage it. Also double checked and the camera appear to be micro size, 19mm? Here again the frame is designed for nano size, 24mm wide cams :/ All boostybois that ship now are Rev-02 with the enable pin
@GR8SCOTT

@@GR8SCOTT ah! thought we were still about the boostyboi; then yes it's long been implemented; you can see on the product page picture I extended a 1.4mm slot towards the front to fit the hdz nano cam

@@fractalengineering thanks! Don't count me out yet. The Hawkeye 30x30 board is awkward(maybe mount it to the included tpu mount), and the camera comes with an adapter. Save a frame for me. I'm putting together the cash right now.

@fractalengineering

hehe are you in my walls we just started doing that the past couple days; snipping out the middle part between the clips shaves off about 4g and makes it a lot easier to remove the battery too 😃
@GR8SCOTT

@@fractalengineering I was thinking that would lower the tension on it. I want to buy it but the Hawkeye split cam I want to put in requires a minimum of 5V. Will it still work when the battery is down to 2.6V? Does it come with "boostboi"? Maybe a 2s version of that plate? 45 minute run time? I'd like to use my new rcinpowrr GTS 1303 8k if that works.
@fractalengineering
@fractalengineering 7 ай бұрын
@@GR8SCOTT hehe well it doesn't appear to, and the separated half trays remain bolted solid. Pretty sure the boostyboi would very happily feed your hawkeye; it is rated up to 2.1A down to 1.8V. Doesn't come with the kit but you may get it alongside your order 2S brings it's own set of new compromises, but you could totally experiment with it by strapping a pack to the top plate without using the 18650 tray; use lipos even if you'd like Although keep in mind the frame is optimized for light weight and efficiency, and only works so well in that very thin sweet spot imo; but I'm always happy to hear of new approaches using my platforms :)
