To me, it all comes down to the story you want to tell (cliché, I know). This is in addition to what you mentioned: "It comes down to your ability as a director of photography, etc." Funny enough, I purchased a 7artisans 50mm T2.1 Cine Super 35 lens for my Sony FX3 (that's what I can afford for now, lol). I initially thought it was a full-frame lens and was going to return it, but then I heard you mention the Super 35 comment. :)

Also I agree with you. Big super 35 lover here I like to see more of the background / deep focus look.

lens ' rumors' have always been a funny thing to me. It's a typical thing of the internet. Sometime, somewhere on some forum a couple of persons made a (personal) claim and it quickly echood into other corners of filmmaking communities. I can name a bunch of rumors or claims from at least 10 years ago that are still being parroted today. People don't do their own research and often just parrot the first search results from google with those debunked and old claims. Also something to take into mind is that back then a lot of folks shot on sensors with heavy sharpening on. Thank you guys for this extensive test! (y)

I had this has for a while but sold it, it did not win its way to my heart. First of it all, it is large and heavy lens and quite unbalanced with lighter weight cameras. The image for this lens is not particularly convincing, it's a bit stale and clinical and sometimes soft in the corners. I didn't like the 28mm wide end, which with the digital stabilization and focus breathing compensation becomes more like 35mm when cropped in. This is not wide enough for establishing shots. And the powerzoom is quite mediocre. It is too fast for a slow zoom, and too slow for a crash zoom, so doesn't really add something for the video itself. I think this lens is mainly suitable for ENG-shooters, who just want to get to shot and the looks are secondary. I use the Sony 16-35mm f4 powerzoom and the Tamron 35-150 f2 -2.8 and never looked back.

Interesting take for sure. I took me a minute to get used to it, but I'd rather carry it around to a run and gun docustyle shoot than our set of cp2s. While I agree it is clinical I also found it to be a solid lens for a variety of work. If you like character in your glass we're doing a pretty comprehensive test and will post it soon. We're comparing a variety of lenses including zeiss cp2 (as the clinical), Cooke Sp3s, Summicron-C's, and Clavius.

Can you show how you rig out your red dragon especially for audio. That’s where I’ve been having a lot of issues.
@CRFTSHO
@CRFTSHO 29 күн бұрын
I can except we don't use the RED to record sound. We've always hired a sound person OR recorded on another camera. We often used our GH5 for the audio recording and treated it like a 3rd angle. I never liked hooking audio into the Dragon.

@CRFTSHO
@CRFTSHO Ай бұрын
Absolutely. Having owned primes for over 10 years I definitely got my money’s worth. The balance is buying the right lenses for the right price. I would shy away from lenses with too much character and instead opt for a good set of all a rounders or!!!! A great zoom lens.

Yea with further study, your way wrong in that its a WOKE deal, Kathleen Kennedy did not even do tryouts for Stenbergs role, She did the role specific for Stenberg only due to the WOKE agenda that Kennedy is pushing on the Acolyte. Its Failing and not even toys are selling. They have fired Stenberg due to both her raciest music video she put out but also her overall "You owe me attitude" You will not see a season two for sure. @CRFTSHO
@CRFTSHO 2 ай бұрын
I'm glad you enjoy it. That was my critique. Where as the internet seems to make it mostly about woke vs racist garbage the reality is that for me the story and filmmaking lacks structure and in turn doesn't meet my requirements as a viewer to be invested. It's more disheartening. to me that you would assume clickbait based on the fact that I offered a real critique of the narrative process. I appreciate your candor! Let's hope Sol isn't the acolyte after all!

There is woke rage bait for sure but that's the shield they hide behind to produce lazy content. So it is relevant regardless of politics. If you criticize it, you're a racist, homophobic , toxic fan. Most of the other channels criticizing it do you say it's very agenda driven, but agree with you that it's just a bad show.
