The young based priestd are proof that the compromises thr church has made in the late 20th century was a doomed experiment that ultimately failed. Young ones want traditional and unchanging doctrines. They want reverent masses with all its rites done properly.

the "TLM vestments" are called "Roman Style" they are most commonly seen at the TLM but it is licit to use them at Novus Ordo also. Looks to me like its a diocese ordination, with the mass being well said and properly taken care of

While the typical edition of the Missal of Pope St. Paul VI did not foresee a westward facing altar. This is still an example of something closer to what the Second Vatican Council called for.

Mark Shea is a very spiteful person who will try to ruin a person’s image simply because they hold different views from him. He used to go through cycles of throwing incredibly insulting claims at people… then apologize…. And go right back to doing it (Feser to name one). He will throw out wild absurd claims about a person just for their temerity of not hold Shea’s view (Thomas Pink). He cannot control his anger when ever addressing those he despises (“death loving, white Christianists” to quote one variation on his verbal paroxysm). He once said that Republicans where too inept to ever flip Roe/Wade. And when they did he thought it best to now just disagree with the flip entirely (back tracking on his earlier position just because those he loathes were able to do what he claimed they couldn’t and wouldn’t

I am with Mike that it was tempting to "dunk" on those Catholic personalities that were warned about their schismatic path. Pope Francis knew there would be no love lost with certain people. If Pope Francis came up with the cure for cancer they would reject it.

Let me start with: I am so grateful for the writings and efforts of Where Peter Is - y’all are one of the very few ‘Catholic media’ that I dip into. Thank you for setting a tone of calm and modeling the striving to ‘be transformed but the renewal of our mind’ that is the fruit of submitting to the Church. That said, I have to respectfully disagree with Adam on 1 point - his claim that to say folk is ‘inferior’ to chant is “just not true”. Chant is the music that is historically, distinctively Catholic and set-apart for worship, other genres are historically not. Chant is the texts in our liturgical books (there are few alternative forms of music that are a sung rendition of the set texts in the liturgical books, and they aren’t folk or praise and worship or even old hymns). I love folk, I love praise and worship, and I can apply subjective pastoral reasons for using these at points in the liturgy, but not as blanket substitutes for the Propers. If we are going to ‘think with the Church’, we need to read Sacrosanctum Concilium and Musicam Sacram to see that chant is and has always been revered. Vatican II and subsequent church teachings never aimed at chant virtually disappearing from mainstream Catholic worship. General music may be largely subjective, but the Church does have objective standards and we need to do a better job at emphasizing the formative role of music in liturgy, not just reducing it to musical tastes. I think we would go a long way toward healing the hurt that makes folks feel that the Tridentine rite is their only option if we would put Gregorian chant in ‘pride of place’ as the Council said it should have - and I’d point to Adam Bartlett’s work at Source and Summit as a great example of how we accomplish that. CTS remain the Church’s “best kept secret” because right wing conservative Catholics do not “receive” but “reject” it in faith and practice. Take how Pope Paul VI’s teaching on pelvic issues in Humanae Vitae is so well regarded but the same Pope’s social teaching in Populorum Progressio is just set aside to oblivion. Today, they not only reject the teaching but also the teacher with Pope Francis’ CST In Evangelii Gaudium, Laudato Si, and Fratelli Tutti.

You truly have no concept that Pope Francis’s ‘teachings’ directly cut against previously established teachings within the Catholic Church? You have two options; you either admit that previous popes were actually the wrong ones (which would undermine your shock that someone thought Pope Francis wrong)....or you allow for the incongruities between the differing encyclicals.

Remember we're talking here about papal magisterial teachings, not opinion, of the Church which is guided by the Holy Spirit and can never err and entails in its totality including especially that of the reigning Pontiff's, faithful assent, obedience, respect and loyalty on the part of the Catholic faithful. Otherwise, that would be a creeping heresy of "cafeteria Catholicism" where you only choose and pick teachings to apply according to your liking or ideological leanings. I can see you're a cafeteria Catholic. As for your opinion, who cares?
