How am I now only hearing about this? I mean, I used to find out about new tv shows from the entertainment section of the newspaper, from the TVGuide, from friends or neighbours because we didn’t have the selection we do now, and our friends couldn’t do things socially because they wanted to catch their favourite TV show when it came on that night! We also got our info from advertisements during commercial breaks, when you had to wait and watch the show when it aired, not on demand. The closest thing we came to that in the 90s, was setting the ridiculously finicky and touchy recording scheduler on the VCR that either perfectly taped your shows or it got cranky and got the wrong time, or cut part of the show off, or you didn’t have enough room on your tape or you forgot to rewind it to tape over old stuff. There is such a selection now and everything on demand. It used to be easier to decide on what to watch, and it depended on how much money your parents had and how much they were willing to spend on a tv. We always had the upgraded cable package, but I used to be a bit jealous of my friends that could get MTV whilst I was stuck with Canada’s version, Much Music. Or any other number of American channels and shows! Anyway, I look forward to watching this one!
