This is absolutely painful to watch! This is why Djokovic and at times Wawrinka took an extra step behind the baseline! Don't hit Rafa's forehand on the rise, hit it on the fall trajectory! That and Roddick seemingly not understanding Rafa's backhand slice was his weakest shot! Rafa doesn't handle low balls as well as high balls.... Don't get me started on those net approaches! Ugh!

En este partido a Nadal, incluso golpeando sin dificultad, le quedaban los golpes cortos. Eso explica la facilidad de golpeo de Soderling. Un saludo.

the impression is that Soderling was not at all bothered by the high bouncing balls from Nadal, neither on the forehand nor on the backhand, he was able comfortably to smash them.....I think this was the key to upset Nadal on clay. The height. 6.4ft, does not explain all, for some reason he was really comfortable to jump on those high balls producing great power, truly impressive.

Looks like Fuentes 's Magic did not operate this very day vs the sweede....proper ass whooping there...Soderling won fair and square and I'm pretty sure Dopalito was a sore loser once again blaming who knows what fake injury...Rafa was to Tennis what Armstrong was to cycling exept the spaniard never went on Oprah to confess (what's what it took cause Armstrong always came clean on hundreds of drug tests).

Nadal was a jerk back then . He hads feuds with Soderling and Berdych but I think Djokovic humbled him in 2011 season and Federer eventually too in 2017

@@farhatkaboudi44 exactly.Nadal was one of biggest snakes on tour and its sad how many people do not realise that.I can tell you now 20 reasons why but i am not gonna waste mine and your time. But like you said, in 2011 Novak humbled him and showed him who is the boss, also a little bit Federer in 2017 too

first time i have reviewed Roddick's game. famous serve - i knew that. backhand better than i thought. forehand less than i imagined. footwork - average. volley average, but noticeably has trouble changing direction and reacting to the ball at net - appears stone-footed. he appears to keep his body in condition. overall pretty much as i imagined. i imagined he won some big matches , but 90% based on his serve. without that he might have been from 50-100 in the world at that time. people have commented that they appreciated his personality.

Just unleashing on what was then still a great forehand. That faded after 2011 i would say

This was probably the best match between these two! I'd include 2010 Miami and 2010 Canada as well. Tomas could gv Roger problems when he was on top of his game. He beat Roger in a good 3-set'r at the 2004 Olympics in Athens in their very first match-up. From this '09 match in Melbourne until their 2014 match in Dubai, they played some great matches, playing 10 times and splitting them going 5-5.
