That would be great. :) It is a litle bit of a bummer with the x10 III not loading the page now. Makes it unusable if you are not on the C2 or you are on SFOS 4.6 and not manually replacing the browser.

It would be the single dual sim version then, right? In general I think it should work, but I can not say any definitive things about it. Haven't heard much about it. Dual Sim would likely be better, but if you have it on your hand, you might want to try it out. And if you can get your hand on a Dual Sim version, I would say go for that one.

@ContinuumGaming Thanks for the message. I'm not rich. Basically unemployed for 15 years. Can't keep throwing money at cell phones that might or might not work. Mine has single SIM slot, 1x SD slot, and with 1x electronic SIM capability, if my memory serves me correctly.

Of cause I meant you to give the other one back and get the new one instead of it, not buying it additionally just for fun. ;) Anyway I just can't give you an definitive answer here. If you already have bought it, try it out. If not you can bring it back to Android afterwards and resell it. Anyway the Jolla forums will give you maybe a better answer on the issue about a SOG04 / Single SIM one.

@@ContinuumGaming Thank you. Yeah, it'll be tough to return... And loss of money to return (I'm in Canada, phone vendor is in Japan). I'll give it a try with Sailfish, and if that doesn't work, I'll try with an ASOP version. It seems that there's windows software to flash the bootloader, and restore to Android if necessary. I'll take the chance of bricking the phone. I'd love to buy a preinstalled Sailfish phone, but in Canada it's really hard to do. Jolla won't see much success if they don't figure out their sales better. BTW, have you tried Asian text display and input with your sailfish install...? Thanks again, eh!

In general, Jolla is only targeting Europe in general. And even here the only pre-installed phones are available from here: buy.jolla-devices.com/ or Jolla directly (C2)

It is meant to experience the unboxing with you, have fun and talk about it with you. But hey, if you just want to watch those 6 minutes, that is totally fine - it is not meant to be a bullet point list or just a "here is the phone, get out of my yard" kind of video.

Hey Stefan, thanks for the question. :) There are a couple of good and a couple of bad points: - I like the screen size. If you have big hands it is much easier to use the keyboard, it is responsive, looks fine and the resolution is good enough. - Battery life seems to be very nice. I do not have any numbers at the moment, but round about 1.5x of the Sony Xperia 10 III seems to be right. (and even the 10 iii is fine) - The cameras are pretty nice for a linux based phone. They seem to have a good quality for the price of the phone. (but remember, no postprocessing is done... so a iPhone or Google based Android with a lot of AI usage, etc will of cause be better) - I like the materials and overall quality of the phone. - Speakers seem to be better than the 10 III too. (and stereo) Neutral points: - You should install the Zero day update as soon as it is offered (it should be from the start). - OpenRepos / Storeman / Chum (anything but the Jolla store) do not yet recognize SFOS 5.0 and you will need to install Chum for instance from the rep-file itself and not with the gui installer from Chum. This is only a matter of time and will of cause soon be different. - Performance is fine - but exactly inbetween the Xperia 10 II and the Xperia 10 III. Totally enough to run SFOS and even for Android games, etc. but I hope for optimizations in future here too. If you look at the frame times on the FPS, they are worse than the once from the Xperia 10 III. In general you do not notice it too much, but sometimes you will feel a micro stutter. Nothing to worry about, but still they should work on it. I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with the hard but more with the optimisation. The Xperia 10 III has a very well done one, the C2 is currently mediocar. The bad points: - At the moment, there seems to be a problem with some of the devices if you do not follow the start up guide precisely. Some needed to be sent back in to Jolla to get fixed. Jolla did respond well and even sent a replacement phone before they received the phone which has to be worked on. - This is temporary too, but really a bad thing to happen: The camera will not take videos at the moment but the camera app will crash if you start the video capturing. I am pretty sure this will be fixed soon, but it should have been working from the first day on. Everything else works as it should for me and you can easily use it as a daily driver if they fix the video problem.

Fair, I have pretty slow paced videos, but I am very likely not going to speed them up. I am not here for the money or people who like to watch YT shorts or TikTok only and can no longer stand slower paces. I could of cause edit/cut my videos heavily and make it much faster, but that would loose a lot of the honest approach I go for. I want to show you how it really is, not how streamlined or planned I can make it - I guess you can easily find that other approach elsewhere if you like that. I think my videos are something you should watch while doing something else more like a podcast. Thank you for the honest response so - I appreciate that. Still just to mention it... unboxing is covering the whole package from Jolla, not only the smartphone itself so we start at round about 3:30, not 7:52... and starting the phone isn't really part of the unboxing anyway so it is like a little add on.

Hm, how fast do you need a new phone? Is the 10 III still running, even if it has a weak battery and a crack in the glass or are you very much in need of a new one? If not, I would just wait till C2 / 10 IV / V support is out. Should be in a few weeks from now (if everything works out 2 weeks) and than use the 10 V and the C2. (same reason for me... the dedicated hardware support might be the best about it)

An all time favorite is hard, because not all of my best games are still functional, but i'll see what I can do. :)

What I can see... no it isn't. There still is the Xbox Console Companion, but it is limited or does not start anymore.

Thanks for your comment: It is still a Microsoft Lumia 950 XL in general. :) On some episodes it is a Alcatel Idol 4s, but that is rare.

It really depends... the biggest problem is, that there are no WhatsApp & so on available anymore. Phone itself works fine, but today it is really hard to use it as a daily driver. My daily driver is a Sailfish OS phone nowadays.

I search with the smartphone on the windows store, set mobile as a target. The games are still there and there are many on the store - many more than the story that was told sometimes about it. It has drawbacks, since the store changed a couple of times and today it is no longer well optimized with W10(m), but it is still possible for W10(m) devices.

I never noticed that... for me in the app it is maybe 2 seconds and of cause on the start page it wouldnt be very bad anyway. But I guess that may vary based on your connection and were you are from.

Not sure if I can answer that very well, since it is a little hard to distinguish between "official" and "community" work for SFOS since it is widely OpenSource and worked on by the community and in spare time too. David (the guy who is working on it (piggz) has professionally worked at Jolla and he worked on browser updates before. On the mentioned website you can read about his involvements and where he lived/lives and so on. Does he do the update in his spare time or while work time? I am not sure. Anyway not very important for us "normal" users, since he contributes to the official SFOS repos anyway.

An "own" ecosystem is available, but it is of cause limited. But it gets pretty wide if you add Android Support (AD) to it which Sailfish OS offers with Alien Dalvic (AD). Anyway: Even without AD you are wrong. There are native clients for SFOS for at least these messenger: - Telegram - Matrix - Signal And of cause if you add AD to the mix: Pretty much anything you can think of like WhatsApp, Threema, Skype, WeChat, Teams, Discord and so on. Same with games. Small amount natively, but close to any you can think of with AD at pretty close to native speed. Anyway: If you do not care about security, data protection, independency of monopolistic tech giants and intelligence services and full access to your smartphone, you might want to go Android or iOS. If you do not mind being tracked all the time, being actively made more and more addicted to your smartphone and if you like to be the product, you are going to be happier there.

I could, but it is only available for WP8.1, not W10M, so it would not work on the big screen or at least not with Continuum but only mirrored.

"Just" has to different meanings: It can mean "only" or something like "easily" ;). This is meaning 2 ;).

Easily you can change keyboard by swiping, but depending on how many keyboards you have installed you can do it even more easily by long-pressing the spacebar and get a list of all of them. ;-)

I realize now that I did misunderstand. You said that there is no button for the emoji keyboard like there normally is on AD and iOS but that the user needs to swipe to that keyboard. Thanks!

Ah, you meant that one. Yes, that is what I meaned by that :). Android and iOS do offer Emojis slighty differently (in the context of Sfos, AD means Alien Dalvic)
