love your channel, but there is no way you guys use paper to track everything. I would die. The other day I was scanning old paper work for patients when they used paper and I was like hell to the NO.

Does the dental hygienist do most of the work in every appointment? I worked as a ortho assistant and we had to do allll the work except for when Dr would come to use the high speed with the Goldie and bending wires.
@woahdenia47602 жыл бұрын
They do when the patient is only going in for their cleaning and checkup, hygienist takes X-rays , does cleaning and at the end doctor goes in to do exam. When patient goes in for treatment it’s just me and doctor.

Willing to bet there are literally no assistant would put on gloves to set up simple treatments like resto or a crown prep etc. UNLESS you are doing oral surgeries like implant and such then yes they will.

You can touch the sterile pouch without gloves. But you cannot open them without gloves. I will say though, those surgical evacuation tips should absolutely be in sterile pouches! 😬

In school we were thought the basics, like the set up for fillings and such. But everything else I learned when I started working. And remember every doctor works differently and prefer different materials and instruments, so it’s all just a learning curb and adjusting to the office and doctor ☺️

I recently graduated high school, I’m looking forward on become a dental assistant. I have many questions, How was your experience? is the pay worth it? Are you satisfied with the job? These are some questions out of many 😩
@woahdenia47602 жыл бұрын
Congratulations! My experience at my first 2 jobs was okay, I did learn alot but I found that those were not the type of offices I wanted to stay at for a long time (pediatrics). I’m currently working in a private office where 95% of our patients are adult, so treatment is different. Pay depends on alot of things, experience, location, specialty and so on. But I am satisfied with my job, it’s very rewarding. In my case I get to build a friendship almost with my patients and it’s feels awesome when they come back and remember your name and appreciate your work!
@gabrielacamacho65752 жыл бұрын
I'm also a dental assistant :) I am satisfied with my job I can actually say I love it and I enjoy it too, it's scary to learn something new but it's good to get out there and learn. The office I'm at is my first job as a dental assistant and I gotta say the drs have been very patient with me. All I gotta say is that any job will have it's ups and downs, you will have good days n bad ones too but it's part of every job.

Thank you for sharing what you go through!! I want to make a career change at some point. Im 30 year old male who doesn't want to be an automotive technician for the rest of my life. Is this a good field to get into as a male? how long was schooling? Do you have to deal with sticking patients with an IV or draw blood? Thank you so much!!!
@woahdenia47602 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome! I have met several male assistants throughout my career, and actually had a few male classmates. School for me was 9 months plus the externship hours we had to do, finished does in about a month and half. But I do know every school is different and I’ve heard of people only doing school for 3 months, so definitely recommend doing research. And about the IV or draw blood no we don’t.
