Yes absolutely, lots of fisherman bring him supplies and usually tobacco in 3kg packets. He also told us if somebody moves in with him, he will leave the island.

Yeah, this is kinda special to steam engines. The horse power measurement does not really apply to these engines. They can produce incredible torque even though hp is not much.

Love this content. Some day I'd love to visit the Aleutians. I'm curious, how did you sail from Japan to Attu without immigration checkpoint? Is the island not restricted to visitors?

@asomics There are few spots of international waters between the Kuril islands where you don't need to register your boat in Russia. For the US, we obtained a 10 year B1 Visa, which is a requirement if you enter the country on a sailing vessel.

There is no restrictions to visit the islands as far as I am concerned. My brothers fixed an old ATV on the island, so if you ever go you can take it for a drive to explore the abandoned island.
