frank O voice is so greatness

Frank O'Connor had an amazing life other than career.... I first learnt about him while studying at a summer school in Ireland in 1989, I was so fascinated by this author that - long story short - I ended my university career translating his novel 'Dutch interior' into my native language, Italian. The affinity of Irish culture with my own, made evident by the situations told in the novel and the lamguage were outstandingly remarkable! I will be forever thankful to my summer school teacher Kevin Kennelly, whom introduced me to the works of Frank O'Connor, to his brother Professor Brendan Kennelly whom gave me O'Connor's wife addrress (after knowing I was writing my thesis about him) and most of all to Mrs Harriet O'Donovan Sheehy, O'Connor's wife, who graciously accepted my request for an interview in 1995, welcomed me to her house several times, shared precious memories and material with me, and whom -in the years that followed - blessed me with the gift of her friendship.

...some of his chekhov-style stories are pretty good. all are greatly dated yet one can still read them if one has to. I am ready tor the 21st century voices though... we still are in the (forced) lockdown of the past. somehow it matches the medical tyranny lockdown and yet millions of us breaking out of yhe Matrix....

Love many of O'Connor's stories. And what a superb speaker, with his deep, rich voice!and musical accent. Apparently he also sang, albeit informally. Would love to find and hear any such records --

Hello from NYC! I recently watched this movie on DVD and enjoyed it a great deal. Can anyone here in You Tube land identify the logo in the top left corner of the frame? Is that the logo of a television channel -- say, in Europe?

It' a dream to see this great film again.All my admiration.

When I was about four (a LONG time ago), I discovered my parents' record of Alexander's Ragtime Band -- on an ancient 78 rpm record which I recall was heavy and stiff -- one of the original shellac-based "pressed" records -- and yes, I played it on our Victrola: memories!!!

This is truly wonderful. It resonates from beginning to end, showcasing some of his best music with an excellent cast and a narrative of his life. Even the credits at the end showcase a truly top class song, Soft Lights and Sweet Music. And just think of all the wonderful songs they couldn't fit in.
