Just to think during WW11 the Americans offered to build a bridge across there for free🤪

They actually also offered to build another one end of Weymouth Road across the estuary to Karaka for free too which would today take so much pressure off the motorway to get to Pukekohe,Karaka and Waiuku which have now all expanded - imagine that! If you go to the end of Weymouth Road today the road ends on edge of a cliff where they were supposed to start the bridge but got stuck in this thing called red tape and here we are 80 years later…………

Using Maori names for every location is tokenism. You don’t speak Maori at home or try to speak any other Maori during your presentation. You guys are just trying to look politically correct, but its really shallow and has no substance

Once it's done they can commence the infill of Whangaparaoa with shoddy 3 level town houses and ease some of the burden on the rest of Auckland. I'm semi joking but it'll probably happen soon enough.

you are dead right - I'm a retired surveyor and the first thing I asked myself when looking at this was 'where the heck is it?' I still have no idea - but would love to know. Great piles though - I used to design systems for marine pile positioning for large bridges globally when I worked for Trimble in NZ

Its in the north of Auckland. Over the Weiti River, from Stillwater to the Whangaparaoa peninsula. A roadway will then link it to state highway 1.

How come such a high bridge with such big piles?
@edwardtupper6374
@edwardtupper6374 2 күн бұрын
Possibly to reduce the impact on a rural area by going over rather than through. Soft ground in a marine environment, and they would need to anticipate the load from a long, tall structure exposed to wind.

Yet to see anyone do ez street right, now from a guy being paid by the hour, he can do it right, problem is they are taught wrong and dont understand the methods or wont try. But ez street needs to be banned for use on roads above 60kmh because it never seals and hardens like asphalt does thats why it makes distorted bumps that are worse than a pothole, also alot of blame on ezstreet needs to be put on peoples deaths. More ezstreet usually has more accidents. And if they stop thinning the emulsion so much the bitumen roads will hold better. These contractors are letting you down from correct grades on the road right through to the density and integrity of the final product. And its not as if they do it fast either.
