She's absolutely a formidable artist; unlike most of today's music, Lana's work truly stands out because her lyrics are real poetry, and the melodies are genuine music, exploring the complexity and depths of themes that today's artists wouldn't even think of. The people who call her "racist" couldn't be further than the truth, it's unfair to say that she's racist, because clearly, she has worked with a very diverse team of people throughout her career and over the years we've seen her sharing her platform with many artists of color. And to be honest, how can you even dare to compare her beautiful art with shallow pieces of mainstream music that DO glamorize very problematic things and perpetuate dangerous and disgusting stereotypes in their lyrics. Like, MAKE IT MAKE SENSE....

I cannot grasp what she did “wrong.” Literally everything she has sparked controversy on, is the absolute norm for the industry. I came here for answers and I got “she changed her name”…um k? She sang about prostitution….far from the first. She’s a product from music industry and she listed black artists (there are so many so that seems fairly unintentional) The only point that I could see being an issue is the line about “hit felt like a kiss” who’s h she came back and stated she was uncomfortable with…but even that..what about “just gonna stand here and watch me burn, well that’s alright because I like the way it hurts” AND that line is actually not even hers! That’s a song by the crystals He Hit Me and it felt like a kiss. I mean yikes but she’s far from the first. I dunno, I’m still lost on why people give her a hard time

the claim of her being manufactured is weird - every other bit of criticism is about videos she directed, lyrics she's credited with writing, things she posted online...and the chief criticism is that she is an industry plant i dont think critics can have it both way, either criticise a bas product or a person

Most peoples do not understand and cant relate with the Poets like Lana. Thus comes the harsh criticism of her way conveyed her arts. But ironically until they themselves experienced the things in those Lana's poetry and storytelling, they crawled and listened back to the songs like its a new profound faith that saving their lives. Of course with their regretful and unsatisfied emotional neediness. And all this while Lana being her authentic self from the beginning and never changed. Move on with her next great writings.

Ipocriti !!!

Wtf is this talking about??? Lana was on the scene with Lady Gaga they had the same manager. Lana was always retro, she is that Gummo, Trailer trash darling that Ethel Cain is copying. Get your bullshit straight when making videos. Lana del Rey is Lizzy Grant with a budget, period.

With this being pure fan baiting and a lazy ripoff of middle 8’s video there’s honestly a lot to unpack here but I’m willing to throw away the whole suitcase. What ridiculous to me is that you can’t even research her history all that well. She started as May Jailer and put out an EP then she created a myspace page named Sparkle Jump Rope Queen and uploaded two or three songs but the whole persona was obviously a joke and she added a whole satirical back story to it. Then she started using her real name, Lizzy Grant, and after that came Lana Del Rey.

@@mitchelleroberson I don’t remember all the details but jump rope queen’s story is basically that she lived her whole life in europe and was part of a circus at one point and she was divorced five times. Maybe you can find the whole thing online
