That’s where a living Conrail legend is born! Thanks for posting the Conrail Santa Trains! Nostalgic.

The reason this horn sounds so creepy is because, while it's supposed to play a B (dominant, not major) 9th chord, the tones drift a bit and it ends up a full diminished chord. That's the one they all call "the devil's chord".

0:21 Fire truck sirens. 🚒 1:21 NS joins in the horn blowing. Unusual for both locomotives to be blowing horns in Jamesburg. 🤨🤔 But still very cool.

Wow! 2011?! 😢 I remember watching this when I was a lot younger! I was scared of the sirens. The nostalgia is intense in this video!

WHY DID THEIR P40’S GOT SOLD TO CTRAIL
@ArtemGulyaev20074 ай бұрын
Потому что так руководство NJT распорядилось данными тепловозами
@pootispiker28662 ай бұрын
Because p40s are slow as hell and don't qualify for the required speed on the NEC. On top of that, their very slow acceleration made it very difficult to keep trains on time.

This was always the most eerie/scariest sounding horn to me. That deep tone, it does not sound happy, but like hell!
@Gwinnettrailfan5 ай бұрын
0:00 See the signals in the distance? Those gateless railroad crossings are new and have a GS Type 2 E Bell and LEDs and the older crossing replaced had no bell with incandescent light. This means that Jamesburg earned its first railroad crossing bell!

In the '80's, this horn would appear frequently attached to really beat up, and old Chessie GP- 9's and GP -7's in their original C&O paint schemes roaring Northbound out of Toledo, Ohio on the old Pere Marquette line to Plymouth, Michigan and the junction with the Detroit/Grand Haven line. I lived out in the country close to Monroe, Michigan then . The echo of these horns at night would go on forever.

In the '80's I lived out in the country about 2 miles West of the old Pere Marquette double track main between Toledo, Ohio and Saginaw, Michigan. These horns appeared on beat up , old, Chrissie GP -7's and GP - 9's as they roared Northbound to Plymouth, Michigan and the big junction there with the Detroit/ Grand Haven line. The sound would echo seemingly forever on a foggy night.
