Hi VEEB, I want to ask if the Raspberry Pi Pico W is the server host to take data from Google Calendar, or is our PC the host?
@VEEBProjects4 күн бұрын
The Pico does everything (earlier versions used a pc script too, but the latest github version does everything on the Pico)
@AnNguyen-jk9bv4 күн бұрын
I'm sorry to bother you again. I've reviewed your code on GitHub, but I'm still not completely clear on how Google Calendar data is converted into signals for display on NeoPixel. Could you explain it to me a bit?
@VEEBProjects4 күн бұрын
@@AnNguyen-jk9bv It's just an array that gets written the neopixel. The code uses an api key to talk to the google calendar, and gets an array of appointment times which it then pops onto a timeline that corresponds to the working day. There code itself is the best explainer. Look for the bits that build the np array.

@@VEEBProjects Thank you so much for your supportive reply. This project is incredibly cool and inspiring, and it has motivated me to create one of my own. However, it became quite tricky when I started using a different microcontroller, as it uses a different programming language. But now I understand how to proceed. Thanks again, and I hope to see more of your projects! :)

It depends what you want the pi to be. The idea that you can have a viable desktop computer for the price of the Pi 5 is ridiculously impressive (to me at least). For an awful lot of little standalone projects, the Pico is a better fit than using a machine with a full OS.

hi , i want a camera that has a field view of 18 *13 cm . It should be the best and available camera where it would work in a dark room. The working condition is indoor . Can you suggest me the best Raspberry pi 3 camera for this purpose ?

@VEEBProjects4 ай бұрын
It depends how far away the 18x13 rectangle is. If you measure how far away the rectangle is from the lens, you can use an online calculator (dofsimulator.net/en/ is brilliant) to get the focal length of the lens. Then you can choose a model based on that.

I'm just a moron but isn't the point of an infrared sensor so that you don't need a light source even if the light source is infrared?
@VEEBProjects4 ай бұрын
That would require there being an ambient source of infrared that the sensor was capable of picking up. In the photo video using the same camera, we used the IR component of sunlight. True darkness would just be black on an IR sensor.
@emmettkeyser11104 ай бұрын
@@VEEBProjects Hmm not sure that really answers my question but I appreciate the response. I did some research though.... this NoIR camera is sensitive to near-IR 880 nm. Thermal imaging is sensitive to 3000-14000 nm - basically long wavelength IR. The relationship for determining light emitted by temperature of body is Wien's Law. Humans emit light at the ~10000 nm wavelength based on body temperature of 310K. This explains why a camera sensitive to 8000-14000 nm is required to view light emitted from warm bodied organisms.
@VEEBProjects4 ай бұрын
@@emmettkeyser1110 You're right, thermal cameras pick up different wavelengths. But, you always need signal source for a sensor to measure. You can amplify small signals, but you can't amplify zero. In the case of the camera we made, the light wavelength is invisible to the human eye but visible to the sensor.

There is deliberately some visible light due to the choice of filter (720nm), but the colour is 'false colour' introduced in the channel swap in post processing.
