Yes, the Endure comes with a block and tackle balance system. To be honest, both the block and tackle and constant force are good systems - some installers prefer one over the other, but I think it all comes down to the quality of the manufacturer. I’ve had 4 quotes now for new windows in my home over this past week. Universal windows direct and Window Nation were the 2 companies who’s salesmen used “high pressure sales tactics”… I almost kicked the first guy from window nation out of my home, but a well timed apology on his end saved his fate and ended up wasting another 30 mins of my time. He told me they would price match, but I just didn’t want to do business with a company like that! Universal was another company who “could only give me this great deal today, and once he leaves, that deal is gone!” only to get multiple calls from them days later to hear about how “their window manufacturer just gave them a new rebate for buying sooo many windows” 😂 Snake company. Window world and Window Depot were the 2 companies who were straightforward from the get go, without trying to price gouge me. Both had good reviews online in my area, for company and install, so it came down to window brands. I went with window depot since they had what I thought was the better window (provia endure series) for only a minuscule price increase over window worlds “4000 series” MI window.

Andersen Winsows says they can replace the double sash windows in my 80 year old house with no damage to the wooden molding. I don't think that is possible, the sashes have metal tracks that guide them and I dont see how they can remove the original windows without stripping a lot of metal and wood molding. Also the salesman didn't explain that the Anderson Window with its frame will make the new window smaller rhan rhe original and the "gap" will be filled in with unspecified material. I'm big on historical restoration and authentic appearance. Also I sont like the idea of argon gas dilled window units which also have a film of plastic or something between two panes of glass. What is your opinion? The original windows have lasted for 80 years. The Andersen's may last for 10 or 20 before out of warranty. Thanks for any conments.

It's going to depend on how good the installers are - I would suggest getting a bunch of free bids and asking each company that comes out the same questions until you have a clear understanding of what they can pull off. You can find local companies using this link - www.replacementwindowsreviews.co/find-contractors.php. Retrofit installation is always going to lose some glass area, but it's much less expensive than a full frame install. The newer insulated glass units are great for energy efficiency and most come with a low-e glass (the film more or less). If it bugs you, just go with a clear glass option (it's just not as energy efficient!) If you have any additional questions contact me directly at [email protected]. Cheers!

Maybe RbA is on the expensive side, yeah. But what is the alternative? I’ve replaced my windows with vinyl windows, even really expensive ones, and they always fail. 3 years on one set and about 6 on the expensive set. So in the end, is RbA actually expensive. A neighbor down the street has had RbA windows for 14 years and he says they’re a dream. At this point I’d rather have spent more money one time instead of saving some money and doing it every 3-6 years. I think part of the problem that makes the industry shady is that nobody is willing to say vinyl shouldn’t be a window to begin with. They’re plastic! Baking in the sun!

Nearly all vinyl windows come with a lifetime warranty on the mainframe and sash. Renewal offers a 20 year warranty, which I find telling - I list the warranty details here - www.replacementwindowsreviews.co/company/renewal-by-andersen-reviews.html) - a quality vinyl window that fails after 6 years would absolutely be covered by the warranty - assuming that you purchased from a credible dealer. If the dealer balks at covering your warranty claim after 6 years, you should lambast them using google local reviews. That is ridiculous. What brand and series did you purchase?

I purchased 3 exterior doors in February 2023 from Window World of Space Coast in Florida. Note the purchase date of more than a year ago. I just this past weekend paid a private contractor to finish the installation job (May 2024). They failed to deliver the doors prior to a date when I would depart my Florida home, and it was nearly a year after purchase of the doors ($7,500) before they delivered the wrong storm door (but installed it anyway??!!) and I ended up having to pull the interior door so hard to open it that it pulled the door knob out of the new replacement door. They replaced the storm door which had been installed backwards, which ended up requiring removal of the sweep on the interior door (not the storm door), leaving a gap of nearly half and inch at the bottom of the interior door. Window world refused to come back to my home and finish the job. They ignored a letter from my attorney and I chose to pay for the completion myself and chalk it up to "lesson learned." Don't do business with a crappy company. If you want to purchase from this firm, check with me first.

It is way beyond outrageous and shocking and i didn't sign. The sales person ran a mini "science experiment" demonstrating that RBA windows blocks 90 percent of the heat while others trsnsmitting more than 70%.

Fast fact about vinyl: Andersen has the original patent for the vinyl window. Made the vinyl window. And does not sell the vinyl window…. If that doesn’t tell you about vinyl, an article called “137 things window companies don’t want you to know about vinyl” will inform you. Vinyl is a material used to reach a buyer of a certain price point. Not quality

I do think that performance data in the lab is a good indication of the overall quality of a window. The Okna 800 has an air infiltration rate of .01 - the Andersen 400 double hung is like .17. Miles apart (although the Andersen 400 is a gorgeous unit.) I find the data telling. As well, the Andersen 400 series warranty is 25 years (I believe), while most vinyl windows warranty is lifetime for the original owner. While I put little stock in warranties, I find them a good indicator of how long a manufacturer assumes their product will last.

@@replacementwindowsreviews a true fellow window nerd 🤓. You are one of the few that actually knows what you’re talking about. If I was to go with Andersen, I would only go with Fibrex by Renewal as it is where Andersen refocused their money and energy and complete business model. Warranties are a great indicator of the quality of product and service one would receive from a purchase. With that being said, in every warranty except for the Andersen warranties, they DO NOT guarantee the amount of percentage of gas that’s actually in a glass pack after it leaves the manufacturer. (That’s why plastic windows have glazing beads) This is because of the faulty/cheap capillary (injection) method. Andersen warranty covers dissipation and I haven’t seen that in any other warranty. In my particular state, there’s no such thing as a “lifetime warranty”. Whose lifetime is it? J/k but in my state, that means 6 years from a manufacturer if they honor it and don’t blame the subcontractor who installed it. There even buzz in the market the RBA is going to extend their 20 year warranty to 30 years. Now that we know there’s no such thing as “lifetime warranty”, which framing material or company would you choose if all were completely free?

I will never understand the term tactics, you ask for a “ Quote “ because you aren’t buying you are “ shopping around “ and they give you a quote. You are not required to buy!!!!!! They will however give you many incentives if you choose to purchase. The sales rep who makes his living ONLY if he does a good job and you buy while he is there!!!! It’s part of EVERY SALES PITCH EVER!!!! You call for a free estimate they give you an outstanding presentation and show you why you should use them. You are offered the quote and if you want to do it they will give you a discount so you can save them the time of Follow up call backs and helping them be a more efficient business. Home owners lie as well they don’t have both parties present to get the estimate like they are asked to do. If you don’t speak to both decision makers how can you be sure the other will retain all the info ??? ALL YOU WILL HEAR IS THE PRICE !!! NOT the quality or warranty or parts and pieces that the salesman MUST spend hours on to relay all the information to you with the hopes that he does a good job and you will purchase. You get an idea on price from, videos like this which are inaccurate most of the time. No one wants to waste time including the Salesman who wants to help and do what ever he can to get you what you need. But home owners are rude to them AFRAID that we have some magical words that will get you to buy!!!!! As a lifelong salesman do yourself a favor and be honest with the salesman tell him what you really need so he doesn’t have to waste 3 hours trying to pull it out of you! Most of us want to help, both people need to be present its your friggin house its a major project for your home. You didn’t buy it without the other person there. Prices are always high to anyone I have sold windows for 350 to 500 dollars and people were enraged. You want good quality which in my lifetime never comes cheap and a good install which also can never come cheap as well. It’s funny, you buy a house for 500K and in 6 years it’s worth a Million dollars. Do you ever feel bad that the price went up that much and you Made that money on the house? You take the profit you can make, but when a company wants to make a profit they should eat their costs so you can pay what you want!!!!! You will spend 20 dollars on a martini at a bar when you can buy a bottle for almost the same price and yet you don’t think you’re being robbed at the restaurant. But god forbid a window guy or a roofing guy make a profit or more than you think it’s worth. Keep in mind you have no knowledge of the business and what it takes to do it. LAST THING IF THEY GAVE YOU THEIR BOTTOM LINE YOU WOULD STILL ASK FOR MORE SO QUIT COMPLAINING

I see your point Joe. However, if the price starts out at $50K and ends up at $25K -- isn't that somewhat of a tactic? They never intended to see it at $50K - they intended the price to be $25K.

@@replacementwindowsreviews Salesman give a FREE ESTIMATE!! All of us say in the presentation that part is free. What do we require for a free estimate ? Both parties to listen to us so if and when you do decide to purchase you both understand fully what the company is offering. There isn’t a single other service that will come out for free plumbers and electricians are all paid to come do an analysis. We show up and the wife takes off, even after we tell you on the phone that all parties must be present. We also say early on that we would love to earn your business today and for those people ready to do the project we will offer promotions and incentives. Your ESTIMATE IS COVERED FOR A YEAR. The discounts are to get you on the schedule and for those people who feel like we are good fit for them. GOOD SALESMAN MAKE IT CLEAR that that’s the case. SO your discount has benefits why? Because if you are willing to make an informed decision today we will reward that individual with a great price. You can keep the one year price and shop till your hearts content. In home salesman make $0 for the quote or estimate and good ones work their asses off to give you all info for free. You don’t have to ever purchase from a company and bigger companies will have a bigger overhead and cost of doing business. It always amazes me how cheap and frugal people are with their homes. If their car needs fixing they spend it right away and when it’s really bad they will buy a brand new one immediately. A car a DEPRECIATING asset takes priority over and APPRECIATING asset like their home. NO ONE BITCHES AT NIKE when they sell sneakers for 160 bucks or Starbucks when they charge 6 dollars for coffee or a great Steak house that charges 75 to 100 for a great steak. But sell a window or door or HVAC PRODUCT for more money than the cheap local guy with no overhead no expenses no real warranty of way to service you correctly and its ridiculous. People get upset when we price and they realized that cant afford it or have to settle for less, or god forbid put it on a budget plan like they do with every other thing they buy like their IPHONES, Mortgages ETC.. We ask this at every appointment in the beginning, IF YOU THINK WE ARE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY SAY YES IF NOT NO IS PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE. DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ALL SAY ???? NEVER YES OR NO its I need to sleep on it, I need to talk to my brother who purchased his windows 20 years ago so he knows about them. Homeowners give the same excuses every time we have to navigate through the BS to find out what is holding them back and once we do they usually will purchase IF done correctly. HOMEOWNERS are dishonest as well and as a good Salesman you have to show them that you are just like them a hard working person there to help them make a good decisions that adds value to their home and project. It’s not a tactic it’s a discount for a good customer who wishes to purchase while we are there today, they get a great price and we get business that keeps us profitable. You can get an idea of any price online today a salesman gives you the exact cost when you allow him to do his job correctly and rewards a family for making a good decision with a discount.

I’m in New York City, one of the most expensive cities for hiring contractors. Just wondering if it’s possible to do one or two windows in a year? Would it cause a lot of mass after the installation so I’ve to clean up all the mess every year? The reason why I’m thinking about this is that under the Inflation Reduction Act, I can only get 2 to 3K tax credit each year for up to 10 years.

Many companies will have a minimum number of windows, but often it is like 4. And this makes sense because they have to drive the crew out, set up, clean up, etc. It's kind of an economy of scale deal for many companies. The good thing is you can call up most window companies and just ask what their minimum is - they should be happy to let you know!

I have 11 windows in my house by the time he got all the discounts, it was $49,000 even at $49,000. I have to say it wasn’t much more palatable at all. This is ridiculous. I’ve installed replacement windows. It’s not that big of a deal so from a labor standpoint I would say that’s pretty high. I could install windows myself unfortunately you need a permit to do anything including scratching your own ass in my county if I get caught doing it without a permit, I’m not sure how that will roll, but I’m sure it will be a big pain in the butt . I bought an older home and it’s all single pane aluminum frame windows. I know I signed up for it by buying a home and I really want to be much more efficient because my electricity bill is off the charts due to the fact that I might as well just leave the front door open while I run the air conditioner , pretty frustrated with the whole thing.

Considering how bad your energy situation is, the cost of the windows would probably be cut in Half just by reducing your power bill. On top of the added value to your home, you should definitely replace them. Whether you want to do Andersen or not is up to you, but the Fibrex material is definitely of a higher quality than anything else I've gotten from any other company. I don't know what kind they use but this place I found in Mt Airy North Carolina where I bought all my windows for my new place their windows are tempered glass how I found that out is because they had one down there broken one pane was we tried to break the rest of the broken one out and it wouldn't break no matter what we tried they had given us the window that was broken because he said he couldn't send it back and we had bought 16 windows off of him we're still trying to get the broken piece out so we can cut out a place in the building we just built and put it in there

You are paying for professional installation, life time warranty, and customer service. Also the best window you can put on your home. So yes it will be the most expensive compared to a cheap vinyl window. To top it off it will also raise your property value by the same amount your windows cost.

This dude doesn’t get it. Vinyl is plastic and is junk. The quality of a window is about the frame longevity and preserving the seals. This guy is harping on the wrong things.

There are a lot of junky vinyl windows out there. In terms of frame longevity, I will take an Okna 800 DX over an RBA any day of the week even at the same price (vinyl over the composite) - there is a reason why high quality vinyl window manufacturers' warranties cover more for longer than RBA...

@@replacementwindowsreviews That's a very silly way of thibking about how businesses work. Plastic manufacturing and cheap glass packs are very inexpensive to produce and typically only a handful of large company's afford heavy marketing that causes prices for their windows to go up.... Rba nationally spends the most money on advertising than any other remodeling product out there. That's where the costs really go. Their window is definitely a little better than vinyl. Fiberglass is still above both though. Also rba gives you one of the best glass packs available from Cardinal while most vinyl window co pants give you waylower quality glass. You should learn some business and manufacturing if the trade before you start spewing off inaccurate statements. I would never purchase rba but gotta feed facts.

You are calling the impact glass "tempered", but are describing "laminated glass". That's a very serious mistake. Tempered glass is NOT hurricane or storm impact rated.

Everyone picks on RBA, yet the sales tactics are identical to the other 4 quotes I got. They all have billboards plastered around town too. The whole industry is shady. At least RBA will still be in business when I have an issue.

Yes, that is a good point, although Renewal has a bit more of their script down and tends to be pricier than other companies. I agree, the industry is shady - which is too bad. I also agree that RBA will be around when and if you have a problem, although because it's a franchise, if that owner is no longer around, do they cover warranty issues? I actually don't know the answer to this.

My local Okna dealer didn’t do anything shady and ultimately just sold me the window unit to let me install myself (it was presented as an option at the start). Triple pane, low E, 74”x45” 800-series slider for ~$650. Any warranty related issues I just file a claim through the dealer. The dealer mostly does roofing and siding though so maybe that makes them less shady 😂
