Gasoline is way better then the diesels, especially the 454's in the cv200. Wicked engine! Ride in one everyday.

Actually some of our buses are still gas powered and some are dual which will run on natural and regular. Those would be 96-2002 gmc cv200's Blue Bird 454 big block, allison 545

@MrWill1985 467 is the route number, while 146 is the vehicle number. So bus 146 on rte 467 ;)
@MrWill198513 жыл бұрын
The second bus in the video. I see the number 467 and the unit number itself is 146. So is 467 a schedule number on that run or is 146 a spare for 467 while 467 is out of service. I know when I was in school some times we either had a spare or a substitute driver who had their own bus the regular bus number showed in the window. But with spares the driver was watching the bus.

@busrailfan some of them should be kept as running as antics or something.

@ttcsubwayfan Yep...that's what we N'Awlineans had to contend with, too... :^P

@etransit I was surprised to see them still in service. I know some of the MTU buses are mid 90's models and are about to be replaced. The one I ride has almost 400,000 miles on it. Any idea what kind of miles these have before they retire them?
@etransit14 жыл бұрын
@matts4290 the ones featured in this video range from 1972-1982 models, unfortunately the last one was retired almost a year ago now.

i hate that sound =[

WOW ! That power steering motor sure makes a lot of noise on this particular unit.

@gmcbuses - I sure hope that happens.

@niosa5 - Sound was pretty decent at least though.

@niosa5 - I remember riding the Flyer D800B's when they were still active before 1994. I have always loved the old Flyer's from the1970's! Thankfully ETS has Flyer D800B #854 preserved in their historical collection. But I don't believe it has run under it's own power since 1994.

@impala3607 While that is true to a certain extent, propane began to fall out of favour around the late 1990s, despite the fact that Bluebird/GMC offered it right up until 2003 ;)
@impala360714 жыл бұрын
@ELOfanatic In Canada all buses like that all run on Propane from 1980 all the way up to 2003 Chevys/GMC's Also most of the internationals from 80 up to 89 ran on propane as well Very Rare you would see a Deisel 80's International school bus up here not as popular as the USA. Propane is good except when your going up a hill then they suck.

Don't worry, Hempstead and West Hempstead Fire Departments still rock the 6v92TAs all the time in Long Island....even though WH also has a 8v92TA :)

REALLY takes me back to my old NOPSI transit days. 8^)

@gmcbuses - Agreed! I don't think they are all uploaded yet. I wish I had a good recording device when all these older ETS Fishbowls with the Allison VH transmission were still in operation.

@etransit - Sadly now the GM's are now gone from the Edmonton Transit Fleet. Still got about 100 of them left in Calgary though! Come see 'em before they are gone too.

The gasoline powered enigne bus I rode was replaced a week before I moved with another gasoline powered one.

I like diesel buses better, the gasoline bus I rode squealed like crazy. I ride a CE200 now, though I'd really like to ride a CE300
@ELOfanatic15 жыл бұрын
I rode a bus like the one at 0:00-0:14 for half a year. Most of the buses that area were gasoline powered, except for the spare buses and few of the newer ones.

Yup, the vast majority of the ETS GM New Looks had the extra wide rear doors.
@busrailfan15 жыл бұрын
And to add, that seat insert is the wrong color to be from one of the 200's.

I do like the rear doors on these. 4 peaces instead of 2!

Yes nice bus! I am sad that ETS has now parked the last of these buses.

This bus should definitely be in the ETS historic fleet.

You see great video. I told you to make lots more videos of the Gmc fishbowl buses. Even if the bus is crowded we get to see with a lot of customers. Looking forward to seeing all of the videos you have on your computer uploaded.

Yup, that window is four pieces. On the newer models the two small side windows are replaced with metal coverings (the exhaust pipe and air intake were mounted there instead).
@etransit15 жыл бұрын
It was fairly common to see 1975-1980 models without standee windows. While those windows were a feature of the GM new look, some systems opted out to reduce maintenance costs. ETS's 1975-1980 models didn't have them, while the pre 1975 and 1982s did.
@JPa31197915 жыл бұрын
I love the tinted upper windows and the large back window! It looks like that back window is four peaces, you don't see that kind of craftsmanship today!
@JPa31197915 жыл бұрын
How common is it to see versions of these buses without the top row of windows? I have never been on a Fish Bowl that didn't have those personally.
@zusca10015 жыл бұрын
are these also equiped on 07 through 10 model ic buses because i own an 07 model and when i hit around 3rd or 4th gear it makes a almost moanin g or whining sound in the back of my bus i like it but what is it
@etransit15 жыл бұрын
Yup, the next order is starting to arrive. 121 buses, numbered 4754-4874. Will be replacing the BBCs, the GMs, and possibly some 200 series D40LFs. The only noticeable differences on the outside are the doors and mirrors, however the interiors are totally different. They've got some very nice comfy seats!

Very nice! Excellent sounding bus! But for some reason the ratings are disabled.
@etransit15 жыл бұрын
The transmissions were defective in a way. Before ETS disabled the first gear on most of them, it was quite common for them to stall on takeoff ;)

Calgary has their garbage pale in the same location on most GM buses as well.
@etransit15 жыл бұрын
Yep. The Series 50 is much more common, however it wasn't offered as an option until 1994. Most pre-1995 D40LFs had 6V92TAs.

And now at least two of the ETS 200's have been scrapped.....!
