it’s actually proven that animals can have anxiety disorders, even crayfish. the same meds that work on humans work on them, but obviously on different doses. do you think it’s silly to use bandages on them? probably not. what about steroids? epilepsy meds? when does a treatment become too “human” for a dog?

@eggchomp At the point when it concerns their emotions rather than physical health. They are made happy by food and companionship and saddened by loneliness and insecurity. It's not complicated enough for meds. We create nervous wrecks of dogs by engaging in this kind of over-thought, white-knighting behavior.

@@1Mackinzoid a little story from personal experience bc I would've agreed with you at one point in my life. My parent's cat almost passed away from a mysterious condition that 2 vets couldn't figure out or help with. One said we should prepare to put her down. It turned out to be severe anxiety after a dog visited, peed on the carpet, and left her with fleas. Doesn't seem like a big deal, animals should get over something like that pretty easily, but they're also VERY territorial- especially cats apparently. The same cat that sneaks outside catching and killing chipmunks and snakes for fun, also stopped eating for months, pulled out her fur, vomited daily, and would only pace and cry on a 3 ft area of space until we found out how to help her. Thanks to a natural intervention vet online, we tried CBD oil, and she recovered. She's still prone to anxiety and a lot of animals are. Some dogs freak out during storms. Most animals need to be given something for flights. Some dogs are fine 99.9% of their lives until it's grooming or nail cutting time, then you might need to help them out with medication. Yes, nails/grooming should be trained into them early on as puppies but if you adopt a rescue with a history of abuse, it makes sense they'll have some triggers around certain things. It's not just about the dog, it's also about the safety of the technician working on them. Just my experience.

@@1Mackinzoid I’m studying animal care currently and there are a lot of things that might surprise you about a dog’s brain and thought process. They can have mental health problems same as us. They can even have PTSD
