I was there in 1987 before there was graffiti. If you follow the water upsteam you will find deep stone pools of perfectly smooth hollowed-out rocks filled with golden salamanders.

Not buttermilk falls. and not nevelle falls. its called "The North Gully" or north gully falls the south gully is on the other side up 52. they both flow from lake maratanza Buttermilk and nevelle falls are both different locations and often confused with this spot.

I always felt that this was my waterfall- actually, Ive been coming to this beautiful spot for the past 70 odd years since I was a teenager in the mid Fifties. This was an area that had many hotels and bungalow colonies that catered primarily to a middle class Jewish population from NYC, mostly Brooklyn. The hotels are all gone and grown over with weeds but the beauty of this little patch of nature under Rt 52 is still alive and well. Back in the 50s, the falls came from a lake that was on the property of a small resort called Beerkill Lodge.

Gerald, very informative video. I just subscribed to your channel. Do you know if it any good trout fishing in Trout Creek between the reservoir and the first parking spot you stopped at on Yeagerville Road by the 40 MPH sign?
@woodsspy3273 жыл бұрын
Fantastic information. How far upstream is the swimming hole from the reservoir would you guess and have you ever walked downstream to the reservoir from the swimming hole to see if there are any additional falls?. Also, is it good trout fishing from the swimming hole to the reservoir. Thanks for your video and I do have a DEP Permit.

It would be nice if people would not post videos like this so that cherished local swimming holes do not meet the same fate as Blue Hole, which has been completely destroyed.

I recall another swimming hole on that stream. Kids would tie a rope and swing into it. Had falls on one end that plunged out into the water making a natural water slide. Have you seen it?

I've been to the two falls above Yaegerville Falls, and I love walking the creek between those falls. Is it possible to walk the creek down stream to Yaegerville Falls?

So if it is not private property, who owns it? By the way, this is Nevelle Falls.
