How old are the seedlings? From seed.

OMG I have 2 of these! I had to cut the colorful head off the first one because it was dying. The second one I bought is having the same problem as the first one though: the bottom of the plant in the soil is becoming papery. It's thin and crinkly but both plants are still alive. The first one is still giving off shoots even though most of the bottom of the plant is literally gone. The second one is the orange head; it has 2 growths on it, but again, still alive and sitting in a mix of Miracle Gro/water. There appeared to be something digging in the soil of these plants and I do have a mouse so I move the plants from the kitchen where they get 4 hours of sunlight to my bedroom window at night. The first one has give me 9 shoots and is growing another one. The orange head still has the 2 "balls" on it. How can I keep them alive and in soil that will kill off that mouse?!

I tried to do this but the fuzzy pod didn’t have any seeds inside it was just kind of fleshy kind of like a nut. Did I harvest it too soon? And if so how do you know when these pods are full of seeds and ready to harvest?

I appreciate that you said it’s not 100% foolproof. A lot of people claim that whatever they are doing to grow and/or root their cacti IS foolproof! Then, when beginners fail, they get discouraged and sometimes give up. Thanks for this video 🫶🏽
