@@thepipeprofessor Rad. After being a casual cigar guy for years, I finally got my first briar today and am breaking it in with some Captain Black Platinum. Gonna give it a few weeks before I try aromatics to avoid ghosting, but oh my gosh, pipes are totally better than cigars. More convenient, more classy, much better taste, so many good blends... I'm advocating for pipes now with my viewers, gotta let them know what they're missing out on.

Since STC (Mac Baren) took over Tabacco Reviews, quality, support, and caring have disappeared. Pity. It's German warning label. As I mentioned on IG, I've been delighted with HU's blends. Nyala sounds really interesting. I'll add it to my next order. Enjoy!

@@ryanbailey112 hello Ryan. VaPer means a tobacco blend that contains both Virginia and Perique tobaccos. Pipe smokers usually shorten it up by saying VaPer rather than Virginia Perique 👍🏼

Oh man, and I thought I was the only one playing that hide and seek thing! It gets even better as you get older. I’m 61 and I’ve been playing that game for years :) It is a shame that our society moves so quickly through the holidays. I too, love Thanksgiving, as we are able to enjoy friends, family and good food, without the pressure of having to buy gifts and all of that. It’s skipped over because the retailers can’t make enough money off of selling Thanksgiving things, so they skip right to Christmas. How unfortunate, right? Well, God bless you my friend! You mentioned that there are a lot of cigars in the $8-$10 range that you like better than the Pappy. I’m a new cigar smoker and I absolutely love the Pappy fermented. I’m on my second box. I would be very interested in a better cigar at a cheaper price point.

It's what I'm smoking right now from my Peterson Dracula 999 Sandblasted Pipe if you are a major pipe smoker try Peterson Pipe they're a good pipe and made in Dublin, Ireland and come with different shapes and sizes. I've been smoking Captain Black Gold for many years and I'm impressed by how it how it has less bite than it has before.

Nice review. I have to order online as i can only get the drugstore blends in my area. Its always nice to find ones that arent bad in case i need to grab a pouch while i wait for a shipment. My go to is usually good old Prince Albert but I'll have to give this a try next time.

Frog Morton's Cellar did have a topping and considered a crossover/English aromatic, so some of the internet comparisons may be to that particular blend.

A cracking blend. I’ve just cracked open a tin from 2008. Just a perfect Virginia smoke. Great with black coffee in the morning. A really good smoke, deep, rich and sweet. Time really works on this blend.

Very impressive collection. What are your thoughts on cellaring English blends vs. virginias. In your experience is it true that virginias age well and English/Latakia blends tend to get weaker and aging doesn’t do much for the taste? Thanks

@@SouthAmericanHermit thanks for watching! It’s true that Virginias and Virginia Perique (VaPer) blends age the best. However, there are many English blends that mellow out and settle down after several years of aging. It really depends on your personal preference and the quality/producer of the tobacco. Aromatics do not improve with age, rather, can loose a bit of their topping/flavoring if dried out. Hope this helps!

I’m smoking this right now in the early am with a dark black cup of coffee and it’s delicious. It’s my favorite straight Virginia so far. I have a ton of Full Virginia Flake and to me Best Brown is lighter in color and flavor, but I like it better. It’s creamy and bready and goes great with coffee where FVF goes better with tea according to my palette. Absolutely fabulous blend. Cheers!

Well brought a tim in on the last order. Yep, a bit complex but smooth and light. I think I prefer it in the mornings as it’s a bit on the lighter side for an English with a little kick. I prefer something just a bit fuller when having spirits in the evening but I’m enjoying it for sure. Thanks again for a great review. D

Would've loved to of seen this when you posted it I have yet to try and C+D small batch blends i just started my pipe journey a few months ago so definitely looking around for rarer blends

I’ve yet to find one that was absolutely amazing. Go with the blends that have been in the market for some time. There’s a reason they have survived this long. Cheers mate!

Just discovered your channel and working my way through! Good stuff! Read a lot of folks having similar issues with the SG tins perhaps not being airtight. Having just watched your cellar tour video (and seeing all those unopened tins!), I’ve heard you can use “parafilm” tape around the sides as some added insurance in case they’re not quite fully sealed, though I haven’t tried it myself.

I like the review seams like i get same. It burns hot this blend, i put my to age a year or so, fells a bit spicy you are right. I imagine this is a low cased blend. If i would smoke this blend in a hot day with no filter my tongue would go to hospital. All best
