I used to plow those sidewalks when snow removal was a priority fir the city. Snow removal has gone down hill big time there.

I used to walk up and down Barrington St in the late 70's and throughout the 1980's into the 90's. I particularly am the most fond of how it looked in the early to mid 1980's. I haven't gone downtown in over a decade and I'm afraid that I won't like what I see if I go there nowadays. It looks so unrecognizable.

I understand, but, give a chance and go to see downtown, pretty sure you will see how nice it there is in person.

To be honest Halifax is growing too quickly with over forty thousand new residents in the last two years It's narrow downtown streets are crowded with cars instead of bicycles and there are very few dedicated bus lanes and parking . The nightlife in the bars is awesome though its a drag that the Nimbys shut down the last two strip clubs in the city . City council is advertising free tents and support for homeless so they are flooding into the city making their own rules . The homeless are ruining the city because nobody wants to shop down there when the place smells like pee . The parks and historical sites are great and so is the boating and sailing with all the littles coves and fresh water lakes . City is about a five out of ten .

Sadly most cities have problems like you mentioned. Halifax is growing and some see the net benefits as greater than the negatives.

Nova scoita in May is mostly in the 20s and June also in the late 20s someday are in the 30s or sometimes in the teens. July is 27+ most of the time. Augest 27+ for most of the month and September is in the 20s. but for the first week it is mostly in the late 20s sometimes 30s. October starts off with like 2 days in the 20s and then in the teens for most of the month at the end is like 5-10c. N

In my opinion there are three energies that characterizes Halifax, the universities, the military and the Buddhists. All three are deeply rooted and all three coexist to create a city that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
