Good grief, there is so much to be taken from this in terms of coaching, it has to be viewed at 0.25 speed. Main point: that they are all smiling most of the time, all clearly enjoying what they are doing. You cannot learn effectively, cannot progress the brain unless you are happy/determined, a happy rower rather than galley slave.

That looks like a club where everyone can enjoy the sport. It seems to be one hell of a global challenge to achieve that, even pre-covid issues. If people look like they are happy, loving the sport, there will be someone somewhere with a rule book to put a spanner in the works. With covid, the rule book has become thicker in the UK, and the rule-book holders empowered to stop all rowing as hard as possible in many instances, where single sculling is the perfect "safe-distancing" tool. Some enlightened clubs have done really well to promote this safe activity, and strengthen their membership and deepen their skill reservoir. Others have simply shut their doors, to see any skills and members' involvement whither.

Dressed in black and rowing in the shade. Très tendance.
