@@LowerLaptimei definitely agree with your unforced errors take, this isn't something a lot of fans like to consider especially with baku this year, they usually say it's just free practice so what if he made an error, it doesn't really matter, he's just finding the limit of the car, etc. when we've seen charles have the ability to build his laps and find the limit in quali itself. with baku especially i think was detrimental, if i am not mistaken fred mentioned that they did not have sufficient tyre data after his crash so they didn't know the hards were less than optimal. these are things charles has to iron out for sure bc he has everything else to become a wdc imo. although in defense of his racecraft, we've also seen some brilliant shows from him (e.g. vegas 2023, silverstone 2022) but i understand where you're coming from that there are just some instances where he needs to iron it out 👍🏻

I think the reason why him and other drivers like Lewis don't always fully cover the inside while defending is that they don't necessarily expect the attaking car to go for that inside given that it's a dirty/rarely usef part of the track, which may lead the attaking car to dirty their tires and not be able to brake late thereafter. Just my 2 cents

There are examples of Leclerc's attack and defence being sub par but there are also ample of examples of brilliant racecrafts: 1. Austria 22, down the inside Max in turn 4 2. Vegas 23, overtaking Checo in the final lap 3. Bahrain 22, DRS chicken with Max 4. Silverstone 22, around the outside in Copse with old hard tyres against Lewis who was on softs 5. Silverstone 19, defence and attack for multiple laps against Max For his poor pole to win conversion rate, he lost most of his wins due to bad Ferrari strategy or the car was just not there for the entire race distance. And therefore if you examine all the victories he has lost from pole position, you'll find it's more down to Ferrari's poor race operation

@@LowerLaptime I will definitely be tuned in for that one! Thank you for your service 🙏🏻 I am new to the sport and I was also wondering if you think qualifying pace can be massively improved after your second or third season, maybe in terms of consistency in execution or putting together a good lap yes, or is it possible to massively improve in raw pace itself? Or is the latter more fixed/innate? I did hear that Max got his first pole in 2019, although I wasn't here to witness how he was in qualifying during and before that time, his cars, circumstances etc. I just heard that qualifying wasn't a strong point for him from the get go (but again I don't know anything and I would love to have this clarified as well). I am generally curious about those aspects of qualifying- raw pace and the ability to execute a lap, or if there's anything I'm misunderstanding. Oscar will destroy Norris next year imo. Oscar's qualifying and race pace will improve to the same amount it improved this year but Norris will never be a good wheel to wheel racer as he's scared and jumps out of the way. If he isn't good at wheel to wheel after 6 years it's never gonna happen. McLaren won't have the same dominant car in 2025 which they had in 2024 meaning Norris will struggle when he cant lead from start to finish and actually needs to race wheel to wheel. 2024 will be Lando's career best year and he still won't win the title. When Lando begins to be beaten by Oscar consistently in 2025 Lando will struggle mentally to deal with it imo. Oscar could drive any car on the grid where as the McLaren has been developed solely for Lando's driving style. I don't think any driver on the grid likes Lando as they know he's a spoilt rich kid.

Very good video. I have followed Lando from his F3 days and your video said to me that Oscar will not get on terms with Lando. I say that because it says Lando is the faster driver. After years of racing doing one thing to change your driving style is far more dificult than ensuring good starts. Add into that Lando has one of the lowest crash ratings in F1. Far lower then Charles or George . No mention was made of Landos tyre managemnet which some comes from his smooth , less aggressivebut faster driving style and his feel for the tyres. The points diference is swallowed up in the lsast eight races because Lando handed Oscar a win and got a puncture battling for a victoryand yes you do have to slow for a yelow and not press on and wait to see if its going to stay on for some time. Hindsight is just that and safety comes first.

@78drea 9 күн бұрын
Your point on Baku is absolutely not right. Lando had double yellow flags on his dash, so he had to abondon his lap. And even if he hadn't, you saw what happened to Max on his lap when Sainz crashed in Signapore? It got deleted because of the double yellow flags. So nothing he could have done there. Oscar outscoring Lando had quite a few circumstances to it that don’t necessary say he has better racecraft imo. He is very different as a person. His mindset is incredible. But he is also under a lot less pressure. He has at least as many mistakes this season as Lando and the other drivers (they all had quite a few, even Max), but people don’t criticize them because he is only in his second year. He can do divebombs like on Lando or Charles, these guys wouldn't do, because of the risk. He was the hero, but could have been left with zero - and likely still not much criticism. It will change in the future and we'll see if it will effect him. Interesting times. Other than that, he clearly has still a few things to work on. But it’s small things and every driver had them. I recently heard quite a few podcasts and analyses back from 2021 for example and some things said about Max there you now hear on Lando. And Max had more experience in a a car that had better opportunities. It will be a fascinating battle between all these guys.

Your analysis highlights one of Oscar’s strengths when racing, which is overtaking. Let’s look at the examples: - In the Austrian Sprint Race, Max out brakes Lando and then Oscar out brakes Lando in the same corner. - In the Austrian GP race, Oscar goes deeper into the corner overtakes Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz on the outside, in a similar move but on different laps. - At Silverstone, Oscar out brakes George and Lewis and overtakes them on the outside. - At the Hungarian GP and Spa, Oscar out brakes Lando into Turn 1. - Also at Spa, Oscar out brakes Charles through Les Combes. - At Monza, Oscar out brakes Lando in Turn 4 when he wasn’t expecting it and Oscar out brake into Ascari. - At Baku, Oscar came a long way back to out brake Charles into Turn 1 and then use his out braking to defend against Charles. - At Singapore, Oscar overtook three times into Turn 7 on a track difficult to overtake. Daniel Ricciardo was known as ‘one of the late brakers’ during his prime at Red Bull. Daniel lost that ability when he went to McLaren and he had to change his driving style to try to get better pace out of the car and it didn’t work. Since then, the McLaren has become way more driveable in the last 12 to 18 months. The question is, does Oscar change his driving style from something that really works in the race in order to get better qualifying times? No. My observation is that Lando is more 2D when comes to overtaking and Oscar is more 3D. Lando is focusing on overtaking on the straights where Oscar will overtake at point where he he thinks he has the advantage over the competitor. The overtaking on the straights has gotten harder this year because of shorter DRS zones and dirty air from the car in front, so more overtaking options help. I think Oscar will take a more Alain Prost approach when comes to qualifying, i.e. focusing on getting the maximum from qualifying, but remain more focus on the race itself. Lando will probably double-down in qualifying because he sees this as his advantage.
@LowerLaptime
@LowerLaptime 12 күн бұрын

@michaelcobbin
@michaelcobbin 12 күн бұрын
@@LowerLaptime True. I do think that Oscar will get better at qualifying, as he increases his range of skills and qualifying experience. Max is now known as a great qualifier, but Daniel Ricciardo generally out qualified Max in his Max’s second year in F1. As they say, it takes four years to fully develop as a F1 driver. What is interesting is that the two tracks you identified, Zandvoort and Singapore weren’t great for Oscar in 2023. At 2023 Dutch GP, Oscar qualified 8th while Lando qualified 2nd. At the 2023 Singapore GP, Oscar qualified 17th while Lando qualified 4th. These tracks may not naturally suit Oscar’s more natural driving style.

Lewis qualifying under George and often beating him in the races isn't that surprising when you really look at it like that, since racecraft =/= fastest to lap every lap. But of course the TeamLH fans are going to ignore all the data and make up conspiracy theories because they can't accept that maybe Lewis and this gen of Merc cars have simply not been that compatible. @@LowerLaptime Sorry, no bro. The car has arguably and obviously been on a roller coaster of performance. There's nothing to be gained in practice or qualifying by crashing like Sir George does when he oversteps the limit. And Sir George outqualifying Lewis means little because he hasn't achieved much. Unlike McLaren, when the car is performing the results are evident. And excuse me Lewis does have more points, right? How'd that happen? So, while you're conjuring up no confidence, second guessing, insecurity and other phobias he keeps racking up records with a car that has mysterious losses of performance. Pushing an underperforming car past its limits is foolish. Many drivers have done that with disastrous results. You might want to analyze somebody like Alonso though. What the hell is wrong with him? Why does Lewis Hamilton always have a problem?

This is not about confidence but tire temperature issues. He is a Sabotage victim. Lewis is doing the impossible. This will make him stronger.
