If too understandable: first murdoc was a lonely pickle and decided to make a band. He randomly seen a commercial about someone being the best drummer in the world and his name was Russel, murdoc got his location and kidnapped him, first Russel was mad but then he was chill, so murdoc was a drunk person so he couldn’t drive well….so he crashed in a window from a music store and !BOOM! Lands right into Stewart pots (2d) left eyeball, so 7 seconds later, they crashed again and 2d came zooming out of the window and lost his right eyeball so they made a band but they needed a base guitarist si they made a commercial abt needing one. Noodle the Japanese girl who doesn’t know her family mailed herself to England in a fedex box that took like 70 mins prob, btw she was 10, oh yea 2d’s girlfriend once came to visit and murdoc and Paula did the bomaya. Russel caught 2d filled with tears since 2d seen what happened so he told Russel, Russel officially broke murdocs nose💀 but his nose healed since 2015 so he is Alr, oh and also 2d once got ran over by a monster truck now ima let this KZbinr finish part 2

Which Persona game is the best is always going to be a topic of discussion, and it's very subjective. However, one thing I want P6 to do is to give the same treatment that P3 does to the main cast, the party. Characters in P5 lost relevance after their arc, Ann after Kamoshida, Yusuke after Madarame, etc., while in P3, the characters' arcs are tied to the main plot to the end, even their second awakening not being tied to the social link is great. And finally, the pacing. In both 3 and 4, things escalate to a climax, while in 5, well, Kamoshida is actually the best and most despicable villain. They built him so well, his palace reflecting his twisted personality and his acts, and then every other villain after him feels pretty weak. Shido is a good example; he is this bad, corrupt politician that does everything for power, but unlike Kamoshida, you don't see it happening, it's just some expositional dialogue. I can't bring myself to hate these guys as much.

hm... I just wanna ask (because this is my first video to this Channel). Is this more of Rant Video than Video Essay? because I didn't get any glimpse of argument rather than paraphasing something many people say (for you if you curios. when I mean being argument and not paraphasing, it's that someone give a statement and back up with evident and logical argument) 1. "even the main casts don't feel as fleshed out as they could be, Haru is the great example of this [...]" (6:01-6:08) - honestly, that is my sentiment on Naoto. even sad is that I feel this after I romanced her, and it feel... indifferent. her Social Link isn't engaging and she the last pair so she got little screen time than the other. 2. on one trait of character (using Makoto and Futaba) (6:10-6:24) - yea. I feel like this is some kind of Logical Fallacy (specifically Hasty generalization). well at least you acknowledge it later that it's more than that. (6:28-6:49). in which come even more bad argument against Morgana. 3. I feel like your pick of Morgana Case and sum up that as a flawed of game in general are misleading. consider how your argument against Morgana are more of your opinion rather than thought-out Argument. let's go nitpicky section. (10:25-10:28) P5 pacing are not that bad if you compare to P4. because that game it's FREAKING GO FORWARD when Naoto came up. Pre-Naoto Mission are more repetitive in Plot Structure and Conclusion than P5. compare it with slowly building up the popularity of Phantom Thieves and the gang bliss in ignorant only to shot down by the death of Okumura and learn even more that it already setting up the scenes since Medjed case. compare it with... help Yukiko, she say she don't know what happen and then black out. help Kanji and he say he don't know what happen and then black out. (knowing little bit that it target people on TV) help Rise and she say she don't know what happen and then black out. at least Mitsuo break that chain ONLY TO BE FAULT ACQUISATION. and going to square one when this is now Mission 5th (10:28-10:32) Yea... I don't know what part you meant. (10:35-10:36) yea... not too specific that I still don't know (10:37-10:40) Idk if you mean Character Design or other thing. but if it the former. it kinda good (at least for me) actually. I don't mind at all if this is just a rant to your game that you love actually (lol). but it fell short (no pun intended) that it didn't go much deeper to it flawed. and even more is that this isn't different (0:22-0:24) for me at all to rant about game flawed but didn't provide support of it. well that's it folks!

thank you for the comment. i made this video more as a way to spark discussion rather then a full-fledged analysis. although my intentions were to initially create a video discussing some nitpicks about i game i really enjoyed and reflecting on how it affects my views on the game as a whole, i feel like the video devolved more into a rant where i made a lot of points that i didn’t elaborate on. i like keeping my videos short and to the point but when making this video i realised that i don’t give myself nearly enough time to express my thoughts and provide ample reasoning. in the future i’m hoping to improve on that. in the end, everything i said was strictly my view on different events in the game and because i made the video, i got to hear so many different perspectives from other people about how they view the game. so i feel like i achieved my goal with it (even though i might’ve lacked transparency with my takes). anyway 3. I made the statement that Morgana embodies the issues I have with Persona 5 for a couple of reasons. To be more specific, I was talking about the writing side of the game. To me, Persona 5 is a game that really struggles with pacing and subtlety in its messages. I talked about this a little in the video but the game leaves little room for interpretation partly due to the constant monologues villains go through or Morgana’s remarks where he reiterates what somebody says and explains exactly what they mean. I’m not saying this is objectively an issue, I’m saying I didn’t enjoy that part of his character. I’m aware that it isn’t an issue solely with Persona 5, but I feel like it’s much more glaring here then in prior games. In a lot of cases, Morgana’s explanations of the villains intentions feel even more forced than Teddie’s remarks about things. It just got annoying to me hearing Morgana explain every single detail of what’s going on to the Phantom Thieves and that could just be an issue I alone have with his character. (Nitpicks) 1. I personally enjoyed Persona 4’s pacing a lot more. I will note that I’ve only played the game once and my take on the pacing of Persona 5 could just be burnout (not sure that’s the word I’m looking for but I hope it gets my point across.) 2. Don’t mean to repeat myself, but I was talking about how unsubtle Persona 5 is with conveying its message. Not saying prior Persona games are masterclasses in nuance and subtlety because they’re not, modern Persona games aren’t subtle (at least with their main messages) but it felt like Persona 5 left no room for discussion with its main story. Maybe it’s because Yaldabaoth, in my opinion, is a terrible villain (which is something I wish I dived into in the video and would’ve loved to if I had more time). I just feel like the constant monologues of Persona are extra sucky here. 3. Just reiterating my statement about characters not feeling fleshed out. Like they have really interesting topics that they barely go over in the Social Links. To too dissimilar to how Persona 3’s social links feel but definitely not as bad. 4. By design flaws, I meant the gameplay as discussed earlier in the video. I love the character designs!! but you’re completely correct in saying that my video didn’t provide examples supporting my statements. that was my mistake for self-imposing rules to keep my videos consistent. in the end it just made the quality worse and like i said, im hoping to improve on that.

Definitely something I’m looking to improve on in the future.

@@AhsokaSnipz ohh interesting. could u elaborate on that last statement? i’m just curious is all
@AhsokaSnipz7 ай бұрын
@@faiwyfloss I should clarify, I often elect P5 to he the worst character wise in the series. The main reason being that the natural disaster in 2011 really fucked up their plans for the game, meaning they had to rely on the old stuff and make new stuff with their ideal deadline closing in. This leads to a lot of characters and ideas just being left as threads rather than expanded upon. If you analyze P5, the game's cohesion starts to fall apart during Madarame's arc and only start to link together again after Joker escapes interrogation. A lot of the stuff between feels like filler and comes across as just stuff to do that fills out the party. Not to say I don't think the game should have downtime, but it leads to a lot of the non-party Social Links (and let's face it, even some of them) to feel like they're either rushed or completely forgettable. How many people do Ohya (Devil) or Toranosuke (Sun)'s SLs? They're easy to forget about and yield useless benefits. If I were to ask you right now how many things you could tell me about Ohya aside from that she's a drinker and a reporter, chances are there ain't shit there. And that's how a lot of P5's characters feel like, there's nothing really there. Outside of the party there's maybe 3 characters to talk to that do jack shit in the story and are memorable. Now don't get me wrong, I do _like_ sone of the P5 cast but there's more mid than good, that's what I mean.

Not many replies here just yet so I'll give my take on the admittedly small gameplay criticism. Merciless is legitimately a bad difficulty in P5(R) due to how they mixed up multipliers. In other Persona games, Merciless gives the roughest multipiers while chopping your EXP in half. What this is supposed to do is force you to learn the game's mechanics to use them to their fullest extent. Pretty often you can see knowledable players do more damage against shadows in Merciless than a casual player would do in Normal Mode. So basically when you're playing through Merciless without the knowledge of what the multipliers actually are, you've taken a placebo to make you think you're doing the hardest difficulty in the game. That said the games don't really need to be difficult, especiallly if you play the other SMT games as well where they're generally harder across the board. To me, the real difficulty comes with doing Max Social Link runs and managing my time.

The balancing has always bothered me a lot. It’s so comically easy that I’m surprised they didn’t patch it. Royal in particular gives you access to more tools than any enemy can handle. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with even the more broken stuff so long as they create challenges that expect you to have them. I’m playing Persona 3 Reload on Merciless and it does a much better job balancing things out than arguably even FES. There’s cheese here and there but the major mechanics feel necessary for strategizing. Like you get these big limit break attacks now that I was afraid would just be the win button like Showtimes in 5R, but they’re actually something you have to use to survive many boss encounters and bring down their big health bars. Even when the game’s easy you still have to at least use your brain. It’s cool to see from a non-mainline SMT Atlus game. Definitely gives me hope for P6.

I mean criticizing p5's cast for not be as closa as p4's is a bit useless, the tone of the two games is completely different in p5 is always moving the plot forward every scene is a step forward in the plot, while 4 being more lighthearted allows for more downtime and chill moments, and yeah p4's cast are fun, are they better? It depends, i personally find them the worst of the modern games, because after the confrontation with their shadows their character development is practically finished for the main story, while in p5 every character is tied to an arc and their confidants expanded on information given during the story, unlike p4 and that imo made them great characters, criticizing p5 for not being like p4 is not a critique is a nitpick and besides there's no way the pacing in p5 is worse than p4, in p5 every month you have new palaces with the stakes that become higher and higher the more you play, in p4 you repeat the same loop of seeing somebody in the tv, saving them, they don't know anything about the kidnapper and the join the team, for 6 months the story literally starts after naoto joins and lastly, like you do not like morgana i dislike teddy, that's personal taste, i may agree with the poorly execution of the okumura arc but still i like morgana. So i do not agree but i mean that's subjective in any case this was a good video, straight to the point without useless parts and while i do not agree with what you said i'd say the video is well made, good job

Your takes on this are really great, I think you make great points about the comparisons of the two games and I completely agree that I’m being pretty nitpicky with the comparison I made with Persona 5 and 4. I really enjoyed the way Persona 4 was paced, the tone of the game and the way it’s message was conveyed but that’s just my personal preference. It’s been a while since I’ve played it so I’m thinking of playing through it again soon and maybe my thoughts will be completely different. I feel like Persona 3 does a really great job with making characters develop and change throughout the story but I feel that was more because of the limitations rather then a choice the team made. But I really think that they could find a way to implement that idea in future Persona games along with keeping the social links a high standard to make the characters feel more fleshed out. I think both Persona 4 and 5 struggle with the way their character development is executed and limited. Point is, you made some good points and I’m glad you got to share your thoughts here. PS: I also hate Teddie :)

@@faiwyfloss absolutely agree with your p3 take, p5 is my favorite of the bunch but p3 has my favorite cast and story in the series, the moral of the story is that everything is subjective I may not like overabundance of slice of life scenes in p4 and prefer a more realistic approach like p3 but that doesn't mean that I dislike it. I agree, but also disagree a bit with some of the points. I agree with most of your criticisms, but I feel most of them can be said for ALL the "modern" Persona games. *Social Links -* Playing through Reload right now, I'm reminded how many social links are just silly or boring. And unlike Persona 5 Royal, there's even less depth to each rank up for most characters. Often times you're given a quick scene with a handful of lines of dialogue, then get 1 chance to respond before a rank up. "Oh, that girl is hot" or "I need to find the cigarette bathroom guy!" (for 5 straight ranks), followed by *"I feel like I understand them better!" - Rank Up!* 😅 Other biggest issue with social links in ALL Persona games - so many of them are way too similar across all games & often fall into generic anime tropes. Cool, someone else wants to be good at art/talk about coffee/learn to cook/be a track star/blah blah blah. I get there's a lot of them, so it's hard to be unique, but either reduce the number of them or go wild! Look at the sheer number of insane people & crazy stories Yakuza games offer. Persona does not NEED to fall into every anime high school trope, even being set in high school. We get it... everyone's parents/siblings/friends are dead. They're anime after all! *Difficulty -* I'm mixed on this. When I first played P5, Normal was challenging for me until I got towards the end of the game. But like most JRPG's, I intentionally tried to over-level/best gear/over-fuse as much as possible. It wasn't until Royal where I used online resources to min-max things, do cheap things like farming reapers or the gold hands, and rack up a ton of easy cash to buy extremely over-leveld personas. It reminds me of Star Ocean Second Story R. The devs basically encourage you to break the game. You can get late game items, a ton of money, and powerful abilities to one-shot enemies if you want, or you can choose to avoid those things. But the tools are there. Do you want to auto kill enemy mobs before going into battle & rack up free XP/money? Go for it! *Abilities/other Mechanics -* I also miss the abilities you get from social links in P5/P5R. Playing Reload reminded me how much I enjoyed unlocking new, sometimes broken abilities tied to social links. On the flip side, I wish future games do what P3 does - unlock new social links through already established social links. I totally forgot that some social links only unlock after hanging out with characters a few times, otherwise you'll never unlock them. That's awesome, and I wish we got more of that. Oh, and Theurgy is also better than the 1-off combo attacks 😁 *Dungeons -* 100% agree here, P5 dungeons easily beat out Tartarus or anything P4 offers. *Random -* It's time to add voice acting to the MC. I used to be staunchly against this, as we know he's supposed to be a self-insert, but the cutscenes have become too cringe for me now. When your character just grunts, points & shrugs, it's almost too unsettling & awkward that it takes me out of things. You give text options to click on, so why not just voice those lines? Persona voice acting is on point & great now, so I am confident this can be done without ruining anything. Sorry for the rant! Great video, I just ended up going on way longer than I ever intended 🙃
@faiwyfloss7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I thought it was kind of jarring bouncing from the Social Links and the Link Stories (or whatever they’re called) in Reload. Because they decided to leave the Social Links relatively unchanged, you can tell how much better the writing has gotten at least with those parts of the game. And the hanging out with characters multiple times to unlock them thing in Persona 3 is really awesome, I’m glad you pointed that out. Also the lack of confidant abilities does suck yeah😭😭but I guess they didn’t really want to risk messing up the implementation, I have high hopes for it returning in Persona 6. You make some great points there and it was nice hearing your perspective, especially with the difficulty. I’ve never really thought of it like that.

Like, yeah, I understand that she's pretty and sexy and stuff, but that's a bit fucked up that we act like this isn't some traumatic thing once we decide "that's okay because we decided that was a funny moment". Same goes for Ryuji, isn't it messed up that there are jokes about beating him up in the main plot when he was beat up by his dad as a kid and he lost his chance to become an athlete after he was beat up to the point his leg got broken? How come the story itself seems to forget those traumatic events for the sake of humor? tbf those aren't exclusive to p5, p4 keeps making jokes about a character's appearance while also trying to say that you shouldn't rely on people's appearances for example, but still.

Persona 5 was my first JRPG and i definitely enjoyed it all the way through. i never really played any persona titles, when i was a kid my older brother would nag me about how P5 was definitely good. due to my short attention span i shrugged it off as it being a boring rpg (judging by the gameplay) when P3 Reload released and my brother specifically told me that he was going to play it non-stop i decided to pick up on where i left off on P5 just out of pure curiosity to see if the game really wasn't for me. boy was i wrong, after getting through the core gameplay the story and the characters are pretty amazing i found myself playing the game every single day wanting to see the end, the only atlus title i ever picked up was Catherine. the only time i truly ever lost my shit was during Okumura his Theme is amazing but JEEEESUS that puzzle with the shuttles. his boss fight was just the worst. needless to say great video! my brother said this when we had a discussion and it pretty much hits hard "When you play persona5 for the first time it's truly an experience, but once you play it again that feeling is gone. you start to see the flaws of the game."

The only issues with this game are: Okumura Palace, Lavenza bossfight, Mementos getting repetitive after a while and the lack of depth on secondary characters.

@@rtsvoidWhich part of the Lavenza fight was RNG? The Crit phase? It's possible to fail that phase due to bad luck but it's extremely unlikely if you're using good setups. Max crit rate is 67% and you only need one each turn, so you need to fail 4 consecutive chances at it, with 3 team members probably at the crit rate cap if using Sumire Swords Dance, Haru OSK, any third. Failing that many 67% chance rolls in a row is possible, but I've not seen it happen in any of my runs. It is a gamble if you're attempting the fight solo, but that's not what the fight was designed for you to do.

@@TeamSima Yup, Crit phase on Normal is very hard. When I tried it on Merciless, I had no trouble btw

This is the first time I've seen someone have the same opinion that the team members in 5 aren't pulled off particularly well. It's nice to not feel alone 😂. I personally say Persona 3: My favourite story Persona 4: My favourite team/friends Persona 5: favourite gameplay mechanics

PART 1 3:37 - some creators clearly point this one out (one I can clearly remember is Oziach's P5R Okumura Palace critique) but Merciless is the easiest by far because of the balancing, and also the multipliers how damages work with how the game rewards you for targeting weaknesses and technicals, which makes Hard the most difficult because it doesn't have these multipliers. I do agree with this to an extent, but overall, am neutral to all of this part of gameplay. PART 2 Early on, Morgana gives out information due to being the one that shares most of the mechanics but this is mostly stuck in the Kamoshida Palace hence why his issues of being useful come up during the Futaba Arc. Futaba was indirectly on her way to replace Morgana as the navigator. And yeah, this is where I agree with your points about Morgana as a character, his writing feels messy especially during the Okumura Arc. And from recent memory, the only resolution this scene has is one short exchange in the Thieves Den. Although I wish you didn't have to generalize the worse parts of P5/P5R in the end, I would still agree to an extent but here are just my thoughts! Actually didn't expect to like the video, since some critics of the game take things out of the game's context and don't fully understand what is happening. So nice job!

@@IHitTheWater I guess to clarify; Morgana nor Ryuji properly apologizes for their behavior in their argument within the main story. Ryuji specifically only does so in the Thieves Den, yet Morgana doesn’t even acknowledge it in said exchange (“Why are you apologizing? Do you have a fever?” is what Morgana specifically says. You can get this exchange by placing Necronimicon on display and waiting until Ryuji, Morgana, and Haru are surrounding it.) Morgana’s apology only extends to the Rank 8’s “I’m sorry I worried you guys” dialogue line, which relates to the issue the Thieves and him had in the Okumura Arc but never directly addresses the argument he had with Ryuji, but do correct me if I’m wrong with a specific main story segment just in case I missed it
