If you think Trent needs to be benched, stick to cricket honestly. The only reason he was ineffective at mdifield was coz those idiots foden and kane kept dropping back for the ball. Trent needs runners, Watkins and Gordon instead and Trent can do his thing. And enough with the he cant defend BS. He woudnt have won everything at club level by being a below average defender. And we all saw Walker's greatness over the last 2 games didn't we lol

The Liverpool bias is strong with this one! If you think the only reason Trent was ineffective in midfield was because other players dropped deep, then I don't know what to say. He's ineffective because he's not a midfielder. He's not a natural in that position, and he's not been coached enough at the international stage to play that position. TAA is naturally a RWB, and there are better midfield options there. Also it's hilarious that you think Southgate needs to build this team around Trent! Basically you're saying that he should keep Trent in midfield - a position he's not a natural at - and change other things around? Keep the Liverpool flavoured Kool-Aid away son. Walker is objectively a better RB than Trent, and the fact that England have conceded 1 goal in the group stage makes that selection easier for Southgate, who is predominantly a defensive manager. He plays safe, and that's not going to change. For me, the solution is to bench Trent, drop Bellingham back to partner Rice, Play Foden as a No. 10 and put Gordon/Palmer on the left. That birngs the most balance to this side.

@@CornerFlagPod Let's not pretend that Trent wouldn't have done much better with Watkins and Gordon up front. The only obvious flaw in his game was his lack of workrate. Coz of this, he doesnt get into good spaces to receive the ball. This team is crying out for some offensive creativity and you want Trent benched. He's literally been the creative output for his club for a while now. Instead, theyre relying too much on Foden's ball carrying abilities. At this point I'd trust Mainoo to play alongside Rice and keep Bellingham at 10. He's proven that he can play that position at club level.

Alright so just to put it in simple words at first...I liked your podcast...and this is just the first one that I've watched... However, there was one thing which I would say...and trust me this is out of utmost respect because l literally like follow really good podcasts as an Avid consumer of Football & GGMU BROTHER...but the first about around 8 to 8:30 minutes of podcast I was about to turn off the video... because I get it that you guys wanted to do that "filibustering"...but yeah there are some people/viewers who wouldn't want to listen to about 8 minutes of that...vou could have kept smaller is all I'm saying....and trust me i was about to turn off the video and at tht exact time i was like chalo let's hang around and see what y'all had to say... which kinda enjoyed it... apart from the Maradona & Mbappè comparison...i mean no comparison there broo that's it 😅....else 👍🏻

We did discuss it briefly, but didn't really delve into it because it seems like a unrealistic approach. It's more of a PR exercise, because it's impossible for a team to move an entire squad on and buy replacements for them all in one window. It seems like a targeted story to get fans on side - because they've been screaming for the players to all be sold.

one thing that is not spoken enough is the development of players under Eth. garnacho, dalot, etc. Some players have massively improved and have become important to the team because of him and how he has recieved undeserved scrutiny for some of the losses where players let him down

Fully agree, which is what I said on the pod as well. Even at Ajax, ETH was good with developing young players, and that's why he was brought to United. Some players will always let the manager down. The key is to have a robust structre at the top that can get rid of those players ASAP and bring in replacements without breaking the bank.

Having listened to the corner flag from the past two years, I think Amogh is the only guy with some serious ball knowledge. I don’t remember his name atm but the Everton fan is also quite good. The other guys and the guests they get seem to have silly takes and makes me wonder if they actually watch football and follow other games especially since it’s a podcast aimed at covering most but if not all PL matches. I can understand that they’re good for banter and after all, they have to get more views and subscribers but I would definitely love it if we can hear more serious analysis and opinions on games especially from Amogh. It’s a great podcast and a good listen all the time. This is just my humble opinion, hope it’s taken well.

Ajax is not the PSG of Netherlands. They are the part of big three alongwith PSV and Feyenoord. Also, look at Ajax after Ten Haag. They finished outside of European spots, Overmaars was sacked, Van der Saar stressed out with a heart attack, 5 different managers appointed, and they still end losing to Heereneven on the weekend. Ten Haag did a phenomenal job when you look at that. Also, he won 2 doubles, in 2 years, no manager did that in Netherlands.
