I have a 10 year old HD Timberline roof and I was told that it's bad and time to replace. That they only last 10 to 15 years? I have some black mold on mine.

You replace it when you begin to see it leaking. Otherwise it is fine. One sheet of plywood costs you only about $85.

Those snips...if you do a lot of metal work, id like to suggest offsets instead of the aviation stips. Once you get used to them, its hard to take folks who run the aviation snips seriously

What's the point of the tape? Bulk water would run down the wall, and pool behind it til it fails, right? Or am I missing something?

I have USAA, had hail damage this past weekend on an entire side of my house. They don't make that siding anymore color wise for the vinyl. They said they "May not" replace other than that damaged side. Umm, it won't match then what I have, what can I do? Please help. I'm in Missouri.

To everybody saying their felt tar paper looks new because it is recently installed. My felt from 1960’s was so brittle that it broke into thousands of pieces like find dust when removed and flew everywhere

I’d use synthetic because of the weight and convenience. I don’t want to lift or out anymore weight on my roof than it’s necessary

My tile contractor made a major prep mistake and did not tape off or spray foam areas to prevent leaking of self leveler. I respectfully called him out on the mistake. He returned to evaluate. Now he's not giving me a set date on returning to finish the floor tile work. Its been almost 3 weeks and all i get from him is he will get back to me on scheduling. I feel like im getting low priority, but im trying not to be argumentative. Im just waiting patiently for his text and hopefully he follows through soon with completion. Can anyone say a pray for me, much appreciated.

I see a lot of never change anything people on here it seems yeah you know what tar paper was ok back in the day because it was made better back then and it was basically the only choice we had now we have much better products trying to say today's tar paper is better than the synthetic is like saying riding a horse to work is better than driving your car or saying conventional motor oil is better than synthetic just let it go the world has moved on and given us better products I just removed the tar paper from my roof 21 years old and it was shit not in very good shape I put synthetic down with the Ice shield and class 3 shingles I have a 50 year warranty unlike the 25 year from before and no hail rating the stuff from 20 plus years ago is not as good as now I'm speaking of asphalt shingles.

Use your green snips for cutting up the rib whilst folding the metal down will make the cut super clean.

I spend most of my time throwing them out. So much dirt still gets underneath the guards causing more damage and resulting in a much more expensive clean. Add it to the list of scams right alongside the Microsoft Technical Support con and the classic Nigerian Prince scam.

I use the big Malco snips, ‘the left/right handed ones’ for straight across and angel cuts, The only time I use a miter saw is with aluminum or if I’m doing a few full sheets. I do use the hook blade like he did here but everyone has there ways that there comfortable with.
