How about giving better reference as to what you’re talking about instead of showing your dam face the whole time? Why bother making a video if you’re not going to make it a helpful one?

You need to know what resistor to use. 😂

It depends on which key you have, it's just a quarter watt resistor and you have to ohm out the chip on the key with the two little metal tabs on each side

FYI, These systems only have 3 components, but those components together can cost you more than $1,000 at the dealer to replace. They are: Key (with Chip) - $80 to replace Lock Cylinder (with sensor) - $350 to replace Theft Deterrent or Body Control Module (TDM or BCM or by other names) - $700 to replace. This resister bypass only bypasses the key and the lock cylinder and not the TDM, so if this resister bypass doesn’t do the trick, it may be your TDM that’s faulty. Just an FYI.

That’s a vats system

A 1998 Buick Century does not have a Passlock2 system, it has a VATS system, and yes, you can bypass them with a resistor that matches the value of the resistor pellet in your key. The passlock system uses a magnet and a Hall effect sensor and cannot be bypassed with a resistor.

No, that is true with Passlock 3 and newer but not Passlock 2. A resistor will work.

I need to know what resistance. I don't have a chip key on my Oldsmobile Alero 2001 2.4. 2,200ohms I heard but I don't have a meeter and I got resistors and. I wish I knew all the resistances gm uses so I can fix mine and if this doesn't fix it I guess it's gotta be taken to gm cause I bought two bcms and tried the relearn but they done what my original bcm is doing and a solid security light stays on unless u crank it and go back to on position and it goes away but when off to on it comes back on. I don't understand wth to do anyone please help I'm in a really bad bind and time is against me n I gotta have this stupid gm product going. I always have problems outta Chevrolet n gm products cause there fkn cheap ass crooks who want us to come in to have this shit done that shouldn't be happening. Hell w them I'm gonna burn it down and enjoy watching it if I loose everything I been working so hard to get because of this stupid security system in my awesome driving Oldsmobile that's fuckin with my life!!!! Someone please help!!!

When you remove your steering column cover you'll find a pair of wires that appears to be coming directly from the ignition cylinder itself most likely they will be white in color if you follow that wire you'll find where is it plugs in underneath the dashboard, you can remove the connector for the terminal block and that is the peice you will use to add the resistor in place of the key resistor, take the key itself and get yourself a multimeter that reads ohms/impedance. You will place one lead on each of the metal tabs of the button Midway down the key shaft. Aka anti theft chip. You'll get a reading from that and you can go to your local radio shack or hobby store and get a 1/4 watt resistor that is as close as possible to that same reading and wire that into place leaving the end coming from the key cylinder itself disconnected from the harness and the vehicle should crank right up

Wonder if plugging a 12v light bulb where you said to plug the resistor, would also work. Car stranded at grocery store and just trying to get her home Don't have access to a resistor but got quite a few bulbs. What do you think?

Have to match the ohm range of the resistor in the key at cell they are all 1/4 watt resistors but the ohm range is anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand ohms so you need to make sure they have the correct value or within a couple of hundred homes of that value in order for it to work

thanks dude , how do you know how much resistance do you need & what kind of car are you fixing there ? 😀👍🚙

Cata strophic the key should have that little black button about Midway down the key with two metal tabs one on each side. that is just a resistor. Nothing more put your meter on those and once you feel like you have a good reading go to radio shack and buy a 1/4w resistor with a close value within about 100 ohms wire it in to the two white wires that come from your ignition switch and your good to go
