Child is father to the Man came out the same month as the first Electric flag LP, A long time running. They were both on Columbia records. Al & Mike became good friends and did a lot of work together.

Spector was a genius, BUT tempormental; to the nth degree and schizo crazy bad. I always recognize his productions because they have the trademark "Wall of Sound."

I was 10 years old when my cousin turned me on to this masterpiece because that’s exactly what it is. You can listen to this over and over. The lush reverb on the mix made it. I have multiple copies. True genius that hits your soul

Genius. This album changed my musical life in ‘69. Then came Chicago and the DCT version of BS&T. Still sing along to this album in the car everyday. 10 years later I almost got signed by Don Ellis at CBS Records in L.A.

By bringing the melancholy flute part into the introduction, the melancholy sound of this song is highlighted in this version.

Fun tip. I was on this show for 2 years as an extra named Sophia. Gilbert wore my martial arts uniform in a couple episodes and they tried to replace all the extras with one multitasker - Sophia. He was amazing!! RIP maestro.

(( 📼 )) way back when usa up all night was on, I should have recorded this onto my vhs tapes. back then I didn't think that stuff would be like this today. Now if I did recorded this every chance I got to, then I could have watched it anytime I wanted too. I do miss watching television throughout the 1980s and 90s.

As far as Phil Spector being a genius... I think that's overrated... Brian Wilson thought he was good but I also think Brian was a scared of them.... Paul McCartney thought it was a lot of unnecessary noise the wall of sound..... I think he was just lucky to have a lot of very good musicians come around him.
@jimmynew-man68823 ай бұрын
As talented as Phil was, the songs were great because of the real genius of the SONGWRITERS. Mann/Weil, Greenwich/Barry and King/Goffin, the skill of producer Nitzkie and all those gifted musicians are why those songs have become immortal. I have always believed that Phil didn't know when to stop with his quest and obsession for "perfection" and so he ended up OVERPRODUCING the sound. Only occasionally did it work. Most of the time his efforts just created a lot of unnecessary noise.

The sound levels are all wrong. The songs drown out the interview, and the interview is what we came to hear. We know these Elvis songs; we can hear them anywhere. And no harm would be done if they were played softly.
