Some people like it, some people hate it. Physics engine is the best to this day, but needs some practice. I do enjoy this game a lot. Hope you like it too. American version (Turbo Prop Racer) has better fps, but PAL version soundtrack has a soul, and good soundtrack is crucial for a game like this. ✌️😁

It's great you could play on official hardware (i am still ok with emulation). Reading the description, you said this game was the last game with true physics (in your opinion, of course), but the fan consensus is that WipEout Pure is the last with the old physics and WipEout Pulse was when they changed it. In my opinion, I believe they're right (in terms of drift/sliding feel), but the "weight" of the vehicles are all wrong; in WipEout 3 (Wip3out), the crafts could "fly" under each other because they're ACTUALLY hovering in the game, think of when you play on the track Manor Top. But in [WipEout] Pure they behave like stuck to the ground cars where the track/level terrain even with bumps can't allow you to smoothly pass others thus allowing you to get "pinned" and perform bad on the tracks (think Mario Kart bumping but less bad) so you just kind of loose the flow.

As a bonus for you, sorry if the format is bad I'm currently typing on mobile, but I can recommend other AG (antigravity) racers you can play (if you are interested), don't get too invested some of the online multi-player is dead for these games; unless you can tell your friends to play or find an hidden community. Here is the list (don't mind the bonus info this is from a copy paste) Antigravity games (AG) from my note list, you can it to find games if you like: BallisticNG (similar to old WipEout); WipEout Pure (PSP emulator) gets the EU version and get ReShade postprocessing shaders and high-resolution textures, but be careful some NOT ALL ISOs have very hard AI so look out for that issue, WipEout Pulse (start of the new physics, play with PSP emulator) get the EU version and do the same thing for textures etc, WipEout Omega Collection (PS 4/5 only for now); Pacer (similar to WipEout); Redout 1, Redout 2 (new physics that have less sliding). F-Zero and F-Z like is next: F-Zero X, F-Zero GX; Antigravator; Fast Racing League (Nintendo Wii U emulator), Fast RMX (all dlc and extra tracks version of Fast Racing Neo) Switch is recommended it has a poor performance on emulators; XF Extreme Formula (it's in early access and has almost 2 hours of tracks over 8 planets, that last about 3.5 minutes for 3 laps total, it also has an amazing soundtrack, the story mode is being worked on right now) Unique is next: Grip: Combat Racing (has AG and wheeled vehicles). Sorry about the "reddit spacing," and redout could be like F-Zero it depends.

Thanks for all the info, wow you really went all out, appreciate that :) Funny you mention this , I'm currently playing Wipeout 2048 on the Vita, but I also have Pure and you are correct, Pure's physics are much closer to the original trio on the Playstation but not quite the same. I do however feel that Wipeout 2097 had the best physics and game play over all even surpassing 3. Wipeout Pulse on the PS2 is a joke, though some people swear by the PSP version. The Omega collection imo is a great anti gravity game but it's just not Wipeout any longer unfortunately. Also the colorful pastel colours and lighting, are a far cry from the dark industrial look and feel of the original three games which I absolutely love. I do have BallisticNG on Steam and I love it, the closest thing to a real Wipeout experience in modern times, though it does lack a certain charm that Psygnosis brought to the table. I also have Redout not sure which one, but I have yet to install it.

@xda8009 True, the aesthetic of the old games was that of Cyberpunk. And I mildly dislike the art style shift that occurred when WipEout HD released and made the old tracks more science fantasy (not Sci-Fi), such as with the hard light structures and late Y2K/Frutiger Aero (look up Y2K aesthetic architecture), bubble futuristic appearance.

This is my personal list of all the AG (Anti-gravity) games I could find (that I think are of note); use an emulator to play some if you can't do it officially and look up cheat codes, manuals and see if there's DLC for some of the games. Speedruns are also a good tutorial. I've posted this to other channels already, so sorry about the low effort in terms of describing how the games feel gameplay wise. The quality of the games are debatable, and I have no clue if Kirby, Lightfield, Phantom Spark and slipstream count as AG games so take this with a grain of salt; but hey at least you got my early prototype of what came to be of my list. This is genuinely ALL I could find that is in some playable state, so please enjoy my final version. THIS LIST IS FOR EVERYONE: Cyber Speedway, 1995 (Sega Saturn) the EU version has the JP soundtrack and has more stable frames. Cyberspeed, 1995 (PS1, Windows) neat concept; for you to gain speed you need to face the same direction as the turns in the track (When the track turns up you go upside down, etc) you can also flip behind yourself to fire backwards and slow opponents. Slipstream 5000, 1995 (MS-DOS). Hi-Octane, 1995 (PS1, Sega Saturn, MS-DOS). WipEout 2097, 1996 (PS1, Sega Saturn, Amiga, WarpOS, Mac, Windows). AeroGauge, 1997 (N64). Jet Moto 2 or Jet Moto 2: Championship Edition, 1997 (PS1) Championship Edition includes Jet Moto 1 tracks, but it has 6 less competitors during races. F-Zero X, 1998 (N64). 360: Three Sixty, 1999 (PS1). WipEout 3 or WipEout 3 special edition, 1999 (PS1). Ballistics, 2001 (Windows). NYR: New York Race, 2001 (PS2, Windows). MegaRace 3, 2002 (PS2, Windows). WipEout FuSion, 2002 (PS2). Quantum Redshift, 2002 (Xbox) this is slightly like Jet Moto. F-Zero GX, 2003 (GameCube) learn how to quick turn because the game never tells you how; you turn using the left and right "air brakes" (L and R, not the official button) you will lose speed when you do this around turns, you quick turn (Drift) by pressing both "air brakes" at the same time then steer with the stick, this allows your speed to increase (gain speed) around turns. Tube Slider, 2003 (GameCube). Kirby Air Ride, 2003 (GameCube). Powerdrome, 2004 (PS2, Xbox, Windows). WipEout PurE, 2005 (PSP). Sonic Riders, 2006 (PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Windows). WipEout Pulse, 2007 (PSP, PS2). Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, 2008 (PS2, Wii). Sonic Free Riders, 2010 (Xbox Kinect) this is ONLY! recommended if you play the fan modded "no Kinect patch" by Rei-San to remove the "AWFUL" motion controls, this is available for emulator and official hardware. Fast Racing League, 2011 (Wii). Quantum Rush: Champions, 2014 (Xbox, PC). Redout or Redout Enhanced Edition, 2016 (PS4/5, Xbox, Switch, PC). Fast RMX, 2017 (Switch). Pacer, 2017 (PS4/5, Xbox, PC). WipEout Omega Collection, 2017 (PS4/5). BallisticNG, 2018 (PC). GRIP: Combat Racing, 2018 (PS4/5, Xbox, Switch, PC). Antigraviator, 2018 (PS4/5, Xbox, PC). Lightfield Hyper Edition, 2018 (PS4/5, Xbox, PC). Trailblazers, 2018 (PS4/5, Xbox, Switch, PC). Future Aero Racing S Ultra (FAR S Ultra), 2018 (Switch, PC). Warp Drive, 2020 (PS4/5, Xbox, Switch, PC). Z-RACE, 2021 (VR). Flashout 3, 2022 (PS4/5, Xbox, Switch, PC). Redout 2, 2022 (PS4/5, Xbox, Switch, PC). Pahantom Spark, 2024 (PS4/5, Xbox, Switch, PC). The list is meant to have COMPLETED games not in development games; but if I were to mention one, it would be XF Extreme Formula. Celeros does have a neat demo. Non AG sci-fi Racing: Kinetica, 2001 (PS2). XGRA: Extreme-G Racing Association, 2003 (PS2, Xbox, GameCube).

@@xda8009 I’ve been wanting too! the emulators on phones aren’t bad nowadays either but it’s hard to get the experience on NES or something like that as it was intended, since I don’t have an old Nintendo console. It’s cool how generations work though. The earliest games i remember playing from my childhood were on the GameCube and even those kinda looked way more advanced than this even if it was only a few years after. But I’m glad younger us, and us today enjoy the heck out of these older games. As gaming evolves, the real gems wash away more and more until there only remembered by a few people.
