Palestinians only whine since 1948. Remember, they and other Arab people initiated the war and eventually lost, leading to the rise of Israel. Instead of seeking collaboration with Israelis or working together to build a better future in this war-torn region, they choose to complain. Nothing useful came out from these region besides Israel in the past 100 years.

Every year thousands of Uyghur women are forced to marry to Chinese men. This is how it happens: the neighborhood committee reports to the relevant government agency if there are any marriage age single Uyghur girls in their neighborhood. Then their pictures would be presented to potential Chinese suitors. If any Chinese man is interested in a girl, the neighborhood committee would bring the Chinese man to the Uyghur family and make a proposal for marriage. If the girl says no, she and her whole family would be sent to concentration camps. The film is about an Uygur family’s desperate struggle to get their daughter married to an Uyghur man before the dreaded knock at their door by the neighborhood committee comes. The film started with a normal Uyghur wedding of the main characters younger sister. But, the main character Dilber’s wedding is nothing but normal. Desperate situation calls for extraordinary measures. They tried some desperate measures, which may not be obvious for non-Uyghurs who have no knowledge about the cultural and political contest. Have they succeed avoided the dreaded outcome, a forced marriage to a Chinese man? We would never know. The film ended with the neighborhood committee knocking at their door and the girl and her mother went to the door and disappeared while the her newly wedded Uyghur husband in Paris left calling her name desperately with clear worries.

A truly wonderful film that incorporates a rich variety of chain reactions in creative arrangements. The only thing that's missing is seeing the human/intelligent triggering at the very beginning. We only see the sparking fuse, not the cause of the sparking fuse, but maybe that's an intentional nod to the "hidden hand" behind it all?

Nasser, much like Jawaharlal Nehru, exhibits the problem of having a good leader who is limited by the characteristics of his regime. Having come to power with a military coup, and having, as the first measures, secured the army against a second coup, he found himself lost in perpetual struggle against the military security officers (led by Am'r, who did more damage than any Israeli spy ever could have dreamed of), and crippled in his ability to carry out his program. This program may have had flaws, but had Nasser been able to actually rule Egypt, as opposed to being hamstrung by the coteries of military-intelligence 'supporters', he might have actually accomplished what Egypt needed, socialism notwithstanding. But he was not a radical, and it took him literally the rest of his life, in power, to remove these men and reunify the power. By that time, it was too late.
