This is the wrong adhesive, you want 3M 08011, which is compatible with these epdm gaskets. Use 3M general purpose adhesive cleaner to clean off old adhesive, body, and gasket surfaces prior. Also when applying the adhesive, you want to fully cover both the gasket and body surfaces with the thinest coat of adhesive possible, it helps to mask off the gasket area on body using painters tape. Let it set up for a couple minutes until it’s tacky, then stick the gasket to the body. There should be no runny adhesive and the two should stick instantly, no need to tape or clamp. Remove your masking tape and you’re done.

thanks Del, huge help. When they painted my car they took the old ones out and didn't put them back in (they were shot), so although I don't have to deal with stripping the glue, but since I didn't take them out I don't get to see how they went in
