This is one of the most annoying, whiny sounding videos I have watched. I agree with Rebecca. Mormonism is not Christian. As a Christian parent, I would not feel comfortable using a curriculum written from someone following the Mormon faith. Our faith influences us. I am sure there is some trickles of what the Mormon author believes even if she did not intend to make it Mormon.

Thank goodness that someone is calling out this trash! It’s one person’s slanted Christian ideology masquerading as a comprehensive way to educate children. Why would anyone trust something that is not accredited and designed by non qualified professionals? The fact that so many people do trust this crap is beyond me, but it is totally CRAZY. What an incredibly stupid way to dumb down the world by not giving children a fighting chance to succeed as young scholars. They won’t ever be able to get into a decent college, because it is basically NON EDUCATION. It’s one thing to feel the need to brainwash children with biased theological opinions that are not supported by academia. It’s another thing to not give children the opportunity of a well rounded education that will ensure their future success in life. It is unfortunate that people think that this is enough schooling for their children. It should be illegal. Kids who are being subjected to this kind of tripe aren’t going to be prepared for life!

We are christian. Mormons are not christian they are part of an occult. We use the good and the beautiful. For ela math and handwriting. We feel personally convicted to use a more directly christian and theologically rich curriculum for history, bible, and science. Also tgatb does keep things pretty surface level with anything bible related. However, if you are familiar with the Mormon faith you will notice a few quotes here and there from Mormon leaders as well as I've noticed certain subjects (I can't remember which one) gives an alternative option for Mormon families that includes more Mormon history and background. Although I don't think it's wrong to use the curriculum. As a pastors wife I can sincerely understand how some may feel convicted about it and not comfortable using or supporting it.

I miss living in a world where grown ups can dislike something and just not use it anymore. Now we live in a world where these grown ups feel the need to make a 19 minute video ranting about what they don't like or agree with. I clicked on this video thinking I would get actual information about the curriculum. Be a grown up. If you don't like it, find something you do like. There's no need to screw a bunch of nonsense hate about something you don't have all the facts for. What a ridiculous video.

@@madisonhoppermomlife5444 What an unbelievably rude reply. The title of the video literally says: "THE PROBLEM WITH GATHER ROUND HOMESCHOOL | GATHER ROUND CURRICULUM REVIEW | WHY IT'S NOT FOR US." No one could have predicted that it would turn out to be a rant that bashes a curriculum creator, instead of an actual review of the curriculum itself. This is not a good look for you. You talked all about the curriculum creator's video being "ick" -- well, this video was probably the most "ick" I have ever seen. You call yourself a Christian? Do better.

Nonsense. The fact that you think that you should teach children from a curriculum designed by someone who has never even gone to school is ridiculous. Why pretend you’re educating children when you’re not? If your kids can’t compete with kids who go to real schools-you’ve got a problem, and if you think you can teach a 3rd grader with an 8th grader AND a 12th grader, then you have no business calling yourself an “educator” in the first place.

I totally understand your points and agree with a lot of them. I chose TGTB LA and Math for our kids this year because I made the decision to homeschool at the end of May of last school year and had no budget set aside for curriculum. We have a prechooler, 2nd grader, two 3rd graders, and a 6th grader, so that adds up quickly. 😅 I also just did not have the time to extensively research curriculums to figure out exactly what we wanted. I used to homeschool our kids, and the reason I stopped was because I was too overwhelmed (we have 6 kids total), so I like that TGTB LA covers LA, spelling, geography, art, etc all in one book. That being said, I plan to use different curriculum for next year because I am seeing the same gaps that you are. I would honestly stop using it this year if I hadn't already printed everything out and had the budget to do so. I agree with you that I do like the preschool program, however I also wish that it incorporated more crafts and hands on projects. For that reason, I just purchased Preschool with Peter Rabbit from A Year of Learning and will do both with my just turned 5 year old. And next year for reading for her and my will be third grader, I plan to use AAR, which I used in the past and loved how systematic and thorough it was.

@@madisonhoppermomlife5444 Have you offered with giving that seller a kick-out clause? We wouldn’t accept a contingent offer from people who didn’t already have a contract unless there was a kick-out clause. In our case, we accepted their offer but were able to accept other offers. If we got a better offer or an offer we preferred, the original buyers got the first right of refusal. So they had a few days to decide whether they would proceed with the purchase (obtaining a loan even though their house hasn’t sold) or backing out of the deal and letting the new offer proceed. From a seller’s point of view, it’s kind of a no brainer if you have a good offer but it’s contingent.

Please do a video deep dive on the reading curriculum options! I am scared I’ve made the wrong choice. I learned to read with a method that there weren’t any site words that I can remember. It was all phonics and rules that teach you how to pronounce most words and then just a few rule breaker words we learned along side each rule, if that makes sense. That’s how I want to do it with my kids. I have 100 easy lessons, all about reading (on loan from friends), and I just ordered explode the code. And I am leaning toward also getting Logic of English. I know I don’t need so many programs! but I’m not sure which one uses the method I have in my mind. I’ve just been going on what has good reviews without really understanding how each one works.

@OurMessyHouse
@OurMessyHouse 6 ай бұрын
@@sarahp.3772 every child is going to be different, the reason for the gaps in my opinion is the fact that it’s a massive spiral and it only ever talks about math on the surface level. They also don’t teach the kids numbers 1-100 you are suppose to teach them this outside of the curriculum but they need to know it in the curriculum. Most kids are coming out of level K without knowing place value or why math works the way it does. There are things I really liked about it and may use it as a summer curriculum as that is what it felt like. My child was able to complete this curriculum in 6 months. So we may intertwine it as a fun thing alongside of another math.

The Mom's of Masterbooks page will literally block you for even mentioning TGTB in passing. It's insane. I knew the minute she started this video and started talking about writing for a company, exactly which one she was about to say due to the verbage she was using. Gather Round is a huge "ick" for me!
