We only have 6 scheduled trains per day, two of which are intermodal that normally run in the dark. Coke and grain trains run on occasion as well as a local as needed.

Used to railfan there in 2009. I think it’s a busier line now.

You may want to redo the title for this train video because the date for this train video is wrong and you wrote 9-11-2024 and 9-11-2024 has not happened yet and the date for this train video should say 6-11-2024 so please redo the title for this train video please and nice train video by the way.

All those perfectly good engines going 2 waste cuz NS just has 2 rebuild or get rid of everything cool they have

Judging from the appearance of the rails, the other track seen in your digital recording hasn’t seen railroad cars on them in a very long time.

I’d be curious to know the cities the local serves. I doubt there’s anything regular in Springfield, Ohio. The I&O occasionally drops off cars at some place around Greenmount…..Lagonda area.

May there be a shout for that freshly cut lawn next to it?!! What a beautiful day. Also, why do trains truck extra engines? Is it just logistics?

Nice digital compilation! The drone shots of the crossing at Enon Road reminded me of a rare happening back in the mid-‘70s before Conrail. There were two mainlines. At the precise moment an eastbound PennCentral train was crossing Enon Road, a westbound Erie Lackawanna was also crossing. That was something to remember as that kind of timing doesn’t happen often and never will again since it’s been reduced to single track at that crossing.

Only thing they pick up in Fairborn now are tankers from the chemical plant east of town. Used to be in the old days grain from the Armstrong elevator, SWPC, and WPAFB.

Ever follow the Indiana & Ohio line north of Springfield to Urbana? Or, maybe northward to Mechanicsburg where the railroad doesn’t go northward anymore. The route of the former Detroit, Toledo and Ironton northward to Lima, Ohio is quite scenic. There’s a unique yellow switcher at the grain elevator in the village of Thackery in Champaign, County.

I doubt if Norfolk Southern does any switching with any company in Fairborn like way back in the past. Thanks for the posting as it evokes memories of the past.
@57143bodies26 күн бұрын
Were you at the Snyder Road crossing? I remember when there was two mainline tracks from west of Springfield, through Fairborn, and into Dayton. That’s been a long time ago.

When I retired, I use to sit in the car, either at the hotel or community college parking lot, and patiently wait for a train to pass. However, a few panhandlers and even someone wanting me to drive them somewhere soon caused me to stop that.
