Is there a chance you can alter the description with which parts were replaced (with part numbers) and which parts were cleaned and reused? Did you clear coat any of the surfaces after, assuming, media blasting them? This is one of the channels I've deliberately subscribed to that I'll use as reference when I begin restoring my azure blue 1990. Really appreciate the time and effort put into these videos.
@Nissan300zxJJ28 күн бұрын
I just updated the description. We did not clear coat the aluminum housing, just sand blasting. Used masking tape and plastic plugs to cover the holes for the media blasting.

How do you catalog your bolts?? How to know which one goes where?
@davidupton7404Ай бұрын
Looks amazing. You've definitely convinced me to go down the zinc plating path.
@Nissan300zxJJАй бұрын
For sure, it's relatively cheap, if you do it all in one batch. We cataloged the bolts and nuts by size before dumping them in the bucket for zinc plating.

What 🤦♂️ didn't mask's the breather holes and didn't mask underneath valve covers but mask only oil cap 😞 now you have over spray in there now i hope that stuff doesn't come off and inbed it self in bearing's down the line al that work for nothing
@Nissan300zxJJАй бұрын
I used plastic plugs to plug the breather holes. Only used masking tape on the oil filler.

Can you share the youtube video of where you found the jig, or how you found how to build it? Or was it your own creation? How long did it take you to strip the car bare?

Hi, I used this guy's video. I had to customize it a bit for the Z and added the caster wheels. It took us months to strip it down, after work, weekends etc. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4qsi5etjcyGl9E Let me know if you need more info.

He is so lucky to be a part of the project. When I was his age, my dad couldn't have paid me to even hang around while he was doing it, but now in my early 50s and I'm fascinated by it and will watch until the end. Can't wait to see the reborn BRAND-NEW Nissan 300ZX. I remember when this body style came out and loved it and never loved a Z car again until the new 2022 Z, because it was reminiscent of the late 80s Nissan 300zx, but overpriced.

Looks like you’re doing it right, very nice work. I have 2 300zx, a 90 2x2 and a 91, both n/a. I’ve rebuilt the engines numerous times and I’ve done the rear end on the 90 much like you’re doing here. I opted for the solid mounts between the frame and suspension. A bit stiffer but I don’t notice much because I was used to the flat worn bushings anyway. I’d love to get a rotisserie someday and do a full restoration.

I admire your level of dedication, passion to restoring this car. I have two Z32s, one a twin turbo and the other an NA. Watching your videos both inspires me and overwhelms (scares) me about how much work I need to do....This car is my dream car as I wasn't able to afford one when they came out new. I was a freshman in high school when the Z32 debuted. Anyways, a lotta people who get their hands on these cars butcher them up. But that's definitely not my intention. I'm gonna do a full restoration....
